@skipperkeith hello again, i have successfully installed waydroid: i installed waydroid helper from the openstore selected 'install waydroid' this time the download finished without incident (my earlier failures might have resulted from my mobile data hotspot's variable moods) messages were obvious and showed success but... once installed and opened in landscape mode, the screen was oddly divided and flashed the word 'waydroid' in a corner. not functional at all. finally... restarting the tablet in portrait mode, waydroid loaded, with the good old lineage boot graphics, and my ubuntu touch tablet became an android 'phone.' i'm typing this within duckduckgo browser (from aurora store) installed in lineage os running android14 in waydroid on the ex-android11 lenovo tablet, with its new base os - ubuntu touch - only a swipe away. brilliant! so far, performance is pretty good! even the windy (weather) app, with its impressive graphic displays, is perfectly usable. duckduckgo now syncs itself with my mac and android versions. great things seem possible, but i won't rush to load it up with apps like a new 'phone.' i'm impressed! waydroid helper is only one method of installing waydroid, but is also useful for stopping a waydroid session, and more. here's hoping my experience at least encourages you, and maybe others too. cheers, KJU

As a thank-you for our help, please promise to provide us with detailed installation instructions the next time you perform an installation. Keep in mind: Even the best instructions are useless if no one reads them.

@gpatel-fr Weirdly that does work somewhat, but the process seems to be rather convoluted. Rebooting to the bootloader/fastboot from the adb shell allows the installer to detect the device, but while installing it eventually reboots to recovery and shows a 'failed installation message (error 256)', and then it auto-reboots into the 'System Updater' screen you'd expect from an OTA update. So something about the installer 'unblocked' my previous update attempts (?).

Good to know (never tried it) but that still would clear all Libertine containers right (IIRC packages get installed outside user data?)

@hlbkv thanks, just a few moments after posting I realized that just a stick with small rubber point on top would suffice. Currently I'm using a pen with soft rubber at end (provided, I believe, for touch screens) but it is too big for making notes. I think I'll have to make a custom device. Anyways, thanks for reply.

@Teasy Hi and welcome to the forums. You can try the update path through software updates on the tablet. The other way requires a Windows PC, the Lenovo Software fix Tool, the devices serial number and a USB cable to attach the device to the PC.

@rheomie , i'm a french user of this forum and i'm not sure my english words will be correct. I followed your instructions with a windows 11 computer; but at the 9th, I had pluged the device on another computer where ubuntu is installed. I had installed ubports installer with a snap app. The installation had been completed at a second try with the snap app cause the first attempt not respond, so i had relauched the ubports installed and then the installation has been finished and completed. @Upruzzinga said in Lenovo model that is two years older than the M10.: be flashed with this UBTouch image and then used as a Linux smart device similar to the Ubuntu Touch M10? Very, very unlikely and there is a risk you'll brick it. Phones and tablets differ a lot more than PCs do. Each device needs its own installation file and if there isn't one, it's generally not a good idea to flash one that is meant for a different device.

@LobsterDarts Yeah, I have bricked two TB-X606's trying to downgrade (both have working, but broken screens, so no loss). Have recovered one, but I wouldn't advise this port as it is too easy to brick the device.... If you want a good UT experience with a tablet that is not expensive get a TB-X306F or TB-X306X and get the 4Gb/64Gb version. There are issues, but that is like all the UT devices, they have their quirks!

No it won't. I don't think Dolby formats even work on Linux desktops. What does it do anyway? I still don't understand the Dolby Atmos feature on that tablet

@MrT10001 Hello, I don't complain. Everything else works great. It's a pity that these little things don't work, because if they did, UBports would have the best system on the market, and free as well. These last key strokes are the hardest to give.
