@arubislander Thank you for the replies, arubislander. I recently got a Pixel 2XL with UT 16.04.07 on it, so i'm interested in this topic.

@PublicLewdness Yes, if you check the device pages some devices have an issue shutting down. The workaround for me is to either reboot to the bootloader or recovery and power off from there.

The disable verity is important. That will keep you hanging on the Google logo.

    Update

The issue for me, at least, is bluebinder. It sits up at the top of top consuming 154% CPU.

I have bluetooth turned off, not that turning it on does anything.

it would be interesting to know if any one else with this device has experienced the same.

It's nearly a year later, but:

Totally new install from Android->UBports using ubports-installer_0.9.7-beta, on a Pixel 2 (just 2), and there's no wifi device. I haven't yet tried a different version. I'm so new to this that I don't even know how to tell which OTA version I'm using; the installer was 0.9.7, and what ended up on the phone was kernel ubuntu-phablet-4.4.169-something under Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial).

rfkill sees the bluetooth, but not the wifi.

@rondarius i used the the https://flash.android.com tool to flash andriod 11 stock and flash to all partitions.

i'm guessing as i'm on andriod 12.1 and had to resize the partitions to get it to work, before then the the install tool for ubport used to work.

that's why i am keen to get a fashboot/adb script to install ubport

@hackersarchangel Apologies for the very late reply, but were you using the Microsoft 4k adapter? I've yet to get my Pixel 2 to connect. It drops after a few minutes without ever getting video up.

FYI I made this PR https://github.com/Aarontheissueguy/WaydroidHelper/pull/24 to mitigate issues with outdated Wydroid packages in the future. My Pixel 2 issue was simply that I installed Waydroid during a timeframe where it was kinda broken, but to fix it a manual intervention was necessary.

I hope when this PR is merged we will simply tell users to uninstall/reinstall Waydroid and all is fine. And there might be more users out there that have a broken install right now

@flohack Hello! Thank you for your port! I really appreciate it. I finally got it loaded on my Pixel 2 XL yesterday with Waydroid. If I can get the following to work:

    Calls/SMS
    OKTA
    Maps (any map/directions app)
12hr battery life for normal usage
    camera/video
    Dischord or equivalent
    Google chat
    Web browsing

This phone will be my daily driver. I know a lot of this works based on your testing and posts.

    Nice to have:

    Headphone jack
    Bluetooth

I'm extremely excited to have this opportunity to use Ubuntu Touch!
    Thank you for your efforts!

@the_nightman I have a Pixel 2 XL I just installed on Sunday. I had to remove the USB cable and try a different USB port on my computer to get this to work. I tried installing a few times, but it kept hanging up in the same place as your install. I tried a different cable and I found out soon that the cable I started with was more compatible. Just to try it, I moved USB ports on my PC and it worked.

@hackersarchangel It is not in the open store as it is not finished. You must ask for it in the UT Telegram/Teleports group.

    Hi @laughwithoratme
Thanks for the update for our North American members.

A first step has been announced by Marius during the latest Q&A (#120) ; that's just a first step but it's encouraging.
No need to ping him, there will be a big announcement when something tangible will come.
