@fungie No I mean there are workaround, but MTP MUST work in both ways so we have a bug here... Thanks everyone for testing!

@acidlake I know its either network or wifi. I tried to commit a change for less wakeup in WiFi, could you try devel channel to see if that makes a difference? Thanks!

@flohack Thanks for responding. Not sure why offline charging isn't working on mine. Maybe a reflash will fix it. EDIT: It seems to be working now. Not sure what happened.

@biffs-apprentice This is an old thread about a previous version of Ubuntu Touch. I guess it has something to do with how the installation is done. I don't have this device, but my advice is to read the other threads in this category where people have trouble installing UT. You'll find useful information on how to prepare your device for installation. Sometimes some device require specific steps such as deleting the existing partitions in TWRP or installing Android back and then trying again, ... Best of luck.

@tobsend there is a similar problem with the Xperia X. Randomly losing Wifi. I thought I should mention this, perhaps the problems are related.

I specifically bought a new battery (EUR 89 in the repair shop) into my used Pixel 2 to see whats up with the battery and I confirm that. 2 issues: Main SoC has unused clocks running that should be disabled, but that crashes boot (wonder why not in LOS/Android) eventually a hardware component might miss sleep, too. I will look from time to time if I can fix that.

I now have another Pixel 2 (camera app crash issue). I have installed Android 9 (PQ3A.190801.002) on it and it is a clean install, nothing added. I have charged both pixel 2's (the other running UT OTA-21 Stable) to 100% and put them on the side running on standby. Both devices are well used so I assume battery life won't be great. So far the UT Pixel 2 has dropped from 100% to 37% in 4 hours, The Android 9 pixel 2 is on 84% after 4 hours. I will continue testing.........

@mrt10001 That's good. I'm going to try and start over, and see if that fixes it.

@flohack said in [Porting] Call for testers: @klh battery indicator is fine -the problem is the middleware below. Android kernels report stupid batteries to upowerd, and from there Ubuntu Touch has approx 4 different ways to determine battery status. This work is more complicated than you would think and a systematic problem that nobody saw since in Android 5.1 and 7.1 it was quite okay ish still. Turns out it wasn't so hard, at least for the Pixel 2 XL (hopefully for all others too, but can't say for sure since I only have this one to test): https://github.com/ubports/indicator-power/pull/60

@flohack I've successfully installed the OS on the Pixel 2. I'm getting a lot of touchscreen problems though, like double or ghost touches. Shutdown seems to really power off the device though.

+1 There's no successor for my E4.5. I'm hoping that there will be some smaller (dual-sim) phones running with UT in the future
