I don't think I will be able to use Ubuntu Touch.
I found out that OnePlus One was never released on my country 😞
PinePhone is a new product and I don't like to be an early adopter for things. And Nexus 5 is really underpowered (because it's... you know... old). I think I'll have to go with LineageOS and cross my fingers for postmarketOS.
Edit: Nexus isn't as weak as I remember it. It might be a good choice but I'm not sure.

          I have a Nexus5 actually 🙂
          And it works fine.

Plus what you may think underpowered for android may not be with Ubuntu Touch.
If you're not an early adopter then it's fine, some people recommend the Meizu Pro 5 but it's hard to find ; maybe not in your country though.
The main limitation with Nexus5 is the GPU, we can't use it and it makes it painful to watch any video with the phone.
That aside and the know baby-battery, it's really great.

@AppLee What's the matter with the GPU?

Eh? It's the same SoC as in the Oneplus 1, but it has 1GB less RAM, because they are both, you know, old. Also, they are incredibly cheap to get now, because they are 7 years old.

@linuxadopter It's nothing to do with the GPU. That statement is a misunderstanding. There is an issue with video playback on Nexus 5, but it's not clear what exactly the issue is.

@dobey I believe @AppLee mean morph browser is not using GPU and that is what "makes it painful to watch any video with the phone".
It's not about the inability to play video with media player on N5.

I'm quite astonished that the problem resists you, given your extremely fussy knowledge!
And when I say fussy knowledge, I mean it as a compliment.

@libremax Morph usage of GPU has nothing to do with device though. GPU acceleration is disabled with QtWebEngine regardless of device, but that doesn't make video playback any more problematic really.

To be fair, I don't really know much about the lower depths of the Android/libhybris bits, which is where the video issue occurs. If someone understood well enough what the problem was though, I'm sure it would have been fixed already.

Would a Oneplus 3t work for you? It's currently being ported to Ubuntu Touch, and you could run LineageOS on it until it's stable on UT....pretty decent specs and they can be found for a good price.

Thanks @dobey for the clarification btw. So it's more related to libhybris and android stuff.

@Photojoe4 OnePlus didn't start selling phones on my country until last year. I don't know can I use Turkish phone operators on it.

@dobey What is wrong with watching videos exactly? Are they slow?

@linuxadopter There is an issue specific to N5, video play back is not possible with media player : https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues/1092
With N5, you need to play videos with UTmedia.

@libremax An HTML5 based video player. What is different about it aside from being web based? Also why web based videos aren't effected by the issue?

A few days ago on the dev channel of a Nexus 5, the playback of a small mp4 video DOWNLOADED was working again (image of the video displayed in the gallery. Now, not again : format not recognized again
But, even if the playback was possible, there was still this known problem: https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues/7 (distorted colours). Rainbow flashi effect...
So even if playback is sometimes possible, viewing can make you think of someone who has taken a good dose of... what you want 😉

@linuxadopter The web browser is not playing video using the hardware decoding. It's all going through software only.

Not really webapp can use locally stored data (like html pages or local db).
But a webapp requires networking rights to run.
