FM Radio on Sony Xperia X
-
Hello, this is my first post. I use UT for some years now on a nexus 5. The phone is 7 years old and a bit slow. So I plan to change to a Sony Xperia X (F5121). I like having the fm radio. My question is: does this work with OTA-13. Thanks for reading.

No, I don't think FM radio has ever worked on any UT devices. I believe someone tried it for the bq E4.5/5 but it was never released or perhaps never worked.
If I am not mistaken, FM radio implementation varies on each device and there's no standard one on Android so that makes it really hard to implement in UT. -
@kugiigi
I assume odo is referring to radio over wifi rather than true radio broadcasts. The Open Radio application works well on my Nexus 5, though Flas no longer does since OTA 14 arrived. -
@cliffcoggin No, I'm pretty sure it has a hardware FM radio tuner in the phone. There are several phones that do, though it is certainly less common now on newer phones. I think the supported BQ phones might also have FM radio ability.
There is currently no application in the open store to control the FM radio though, as far as I know.

@cliffcoggin For me, FLAS doesn't work anymore (impossible to load radio liste) with OTA-14 (BQ E5 HD tested), except the possibility to launch a radio recorded in the favorites (without being able to stop it). On the other hand Shoutcast works normally.

Thanks very much so far. Yes I think of a real hardware FM radio tuner. For me a great feature. All my older devices (Blackberry etc.) had one.

Please, file an issue about Flas here: https://gitlab.com/cibersheep/flas/-/issues

@CiberSheep I have added to the existing report rather than start another.
