The latest UT installer (0.9) appears to create a few problems in use, and there are cases where the older (0.8) installer is more successful. Should the newer installer be withdrawn until it can be rectified?

            Hi.
I am backend node.js developer. Since libertine is simply saying, something like docker container. Would there be any possibility to "access" it from outside of the device ?

To put it simple, I would like to have testing environmental in my phone for when I don't have access to my server. Libertine container running node app with possibility to access that app from outside, would be great idea.

Us users tend to fill up these Q&A's with feature requests for things we would most like to see developed sooner than later - but what things would the UBports team like to see added to UT by their fellow devs and the community first??

              Best regards,
              Steve Berson

I've noticed that nearly half of the compatible devices are marked as "inactive" in the porting section. (including Pinephone, Sony Xperia X performance, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, Nexus 5, etc...).

Will it be a challenge for you to keep those devices in the future OTA cycles with "forever" missing features and no more maintainers?

Did you already list the devices that won't be able to upgrade to 20.04?

Thank you very much for everything you accomplish!!
                Regards,

                Steve

Hi, its possible to have the cameraApp accessible (for quick photo video capture) without the need to type lockscreen pin first in the future or is something the platform can't do, technically speaking ?

                  Thank you!

In september 2020 Marius wrote a post in this forum talking about the roadmap.

Now, one year later will he update it or write a new one?

@opaijavai yes technically possible - but would need some code changes for it to be a feature to be incorporated.

                      • the immediate user convenience is nice and a feature we want, open drawer - tap camera - take picture
                      1. for a app to be launched without password, we would want the option for it to be enabled/disabled by the user
                      2. The camera app also allows access to viewing pictures and deleting pictures - for this app to be launched without password it would have to be a some kind of 'take pictures only' mode

All this code would need to be created, although not impossible - and not without an example - just look at the 'Emergency calls' feature - it opens the dialer - but in a mode that only has basic call functionality.

Why is 20.04 a higher priority than VoLTE? 16.04 runs great on the OS side, but without VoLTE many phones will soon stop functioning. What does 20.04 add that is not just nice to have features?

@heyspencerb I think 20.04 is a P1 task since 16.04 is not maintained anymore, that means no security patches in the future.
20.04 will also be the new repository base to build everything new on (Wayland, Systemd, VoLTE / VoWiFi, screen cast, etc...)

Yes, as Stanwood said the work made for VoLTE is better used on 20.04 so the job is done only once.
20.04 is more recent hence a much sturdier base to build something.
This will also help for a better bluetooth support especially BLE IIRC.

Basically all the work done for 16.04 is time lost for 20.04.
Maintaining 16.04 is a necessary evil until 20.04 is ready but in order to get a better use of resources 20.04 has to make it out.

I don't think your question made it to the show so I tried to give an answer here.
Please don't answer here and open a new thread if you want to continue the discussion.
Or you'll be able to ask it again in a couple of week.
