@xray2000 Yeah im blind. I looked at the waydroid docs again and it seems like installing apps through the commandline is very easy. https://docs.waydro.id/usage/install-and-run-android-applications

Just didnt find this information when I first looked for it

This is super useful and I may now need to get a device that can run Waydroid!

            Is currently using an Op5t
Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.

              • The ability to install and remove apk's through waydroid (?)

This work is awesome! Thank you help popularize WayDroid on Ubuntu Touch. šŸ˜‰

Concerning the above mentioned point, it's very interesting. Though I believe most apps can be easily handled by the user through F-Droid or Aurora Store (?)

@aarontheissueguy I seem to have read somewhere that a goal was to make waydroid user friendly or more easy to use by the end of the year. This work will go a long way towards achieving this goal, which would be a nice end of year gift for all users.

But it's true that in general, I think there are a lot of great developments especially (not only) in the last few months.

When I speak of beautiful developments, there are those that can be seen, but there is also the unglamorous work that cannot be seen, the work of the shadow..

Thanks to all the developers. šŸ‘‹

@domubpkm When we quit the campaign of WayDroid this was the goal yes and i think this would not be changed.

Could the app also install Wasydroid container start/ session start buttons?

@homer I think that is possible. This also happens if you open any app though.

@aarontheissueguy I published a first version of the app on Github: https://github.com/Aarontheissueguy/WaydroidHelper

It currently can do 2 things:

                        • Show and Hide apps
                        • Add a "Waydroid Stop" app to the drawer

If you want to try it you can download this .click package and open it with the openstore: https://cloud.aaron.place/index.php/s/ftfLL7XJcGStoCa

You really shouldnt be able to break anything with this app. With that being said there has not been much testing. Use it at your own risk. It would be great if you could let me know if things work as expected. ( @ruditimmer )

@aarontheissueguy I just installed Waydroid with your Helper on my Pixel 3a and the whole process went smooth without a glitch. Now I'm exploring its features. Thank you for your work on this, it's a great job indeed. Matteo

@aarontheissueguy Thank you very much for your work and dedication. A really useful app, to get Waydroid up and running, without upfront diving into the guts of command line and config files.

I noticed, that with each change of app show / hide a new NoDisplay=true/false line is appended to the corresponding .local/share/applications/waydroid.*.desktop file, instead of changing the existing entry.

Also it would be nice, to show the current NoDisplay=true/false setting in the app.

Eventually the entry note "...update the app list to apply the changes" could be supplemented by e.g. "(pull down and release the launcher)".

@mschmids Thank you for your feedback. There currently is a pull request pending that should fix the issue with appending. The other stuff will have to wait until I find time.

                                      Hey @aarontheissueguy ,
this looks really promising but i am not able to find the app on the OpenStore on my VollaPhone.
Also if i download the .click and open it with the OpenStore app it just shows the dashboard of the store not the app details.
Any idea why this is or how i can install your app?

@myxor : It should be available in OpenStore app, which is installed by default on your Ubuntu Touch device. I also have a Volla and just checked for you by clicking search. Waydroid helper is there.

It is only visible after switching to RC build. It was not visible on Edge build. No idea why?
I will try it out the next days. Thank you.
