My opinions about lomiri

@keneda said in My opinions about lomiri:
This is a topic by itself, and a loooooong thread exists here about it.
Yeah the topic is mainly that the core team cannot do such task and that contributors from the community should step up.
Of course people will be there along the way to help. This is a friendly community afterall

Sorry, but :
- I don't want any silly widgets on my home screen at all.
- Buttons are more reliable than swipes.
In fact I wouldn't mind beeing able to use the hardware buttons on my BQ E5 HD phone in combination with Ubuntu Touch like they work when Android is installed! - The old Unity look is just fine : It's what Ubuntu Touch is known for!
So... uhm... yeah... I pretty much disagree with all your complaints!
LOL!
Ohh and I don't get the "one hand usage of the phone" thing at all : I simply use both hands because it's simply better to do so...
-
@keneda i'd be down to try to create a mockup
-
@nero355 i mean fair but the widgets are like an optional thing if it where present in ubuntu.
and true buttons are more reliable but unfortunately it will be hard for most phones to keep the buttons as it will be less present each year.
and yea it looks fine but a bit more customization like windows phone would be nice
I'm just pointing out that most more modern phones will have less of a good user experience.
and there are lots of people that use the phone while driving etc (not saying it's a good thing but still )
i think it's based on preference

@slyvan
There are some apps on the openstore that intend to fill the need of a custom homescreen.
First there is... Home from @pavelprosto https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6001/need-testers-home-screen-for-ubuntu-touch?_=1637710369790 , there is also launcher modular. -
@applee would you know if there is a component library in sketch or some sort? i found an old one online but can't seem to find updated versions for it
-
@slyvan
Sorry I don't understand what you're looking for.
Sketch: is it the software or some kind of language or else?
And what is a "component library" for you?
For hardware electronics I understand, for software it would be a design documentation I guess -

I meant software buttons : The arrow for "Back" for example
But yeah : Hardware buttons stay the best!

Windows Phone was a very crippled basic OS that I never liked to be honest...
I am glad it disappeared even it meant that Continuum disappeared too!
I'm just pointing out that most more modern phones will have less of a good user experience.
I don't get that one ?!
and there are lots of people that use the phone while driving etc (not saying it's a good thing but still )
Don't get me started...

True, but I also think that Ubuntu Touch should be something different than Android or iOS instead of just beeing choice #3 or #4 if you count in Jolla Sailfish

@slyvan, I love unity7 and I love lomiri. Such a clever and intuitive design.
-
@applee more like a library for design with premade components. is there a design system i can use to make the mockups or do people currently just create every mockup from scratch
