@phiibuntu Ok, I have no solution for you right now, but I will move "Redmi Note 9 S" from "Fully functionality" to "Partial functionality" WayDroid device list.

        Redmi Note 9S Stable

          Ok.
I ll re wipe my phone to use only UT app and wait next OTA to test again (with no rw or apt upgrade I promise 🙂 )

Edit: a clue perhaps, like when I make apt upgrade, the waydroid helper modify code pin screen of UT (really modernise it).
In fact I ask if waydroid helper doens't make itself and apt upgrade finally
because same causes produce same effects (I think lol)

Only way to install it is to reflash mui official rom and then reflash it with ubports installer 🙂

This may sound strange but I really like my Xiaomi phone because of that fact : When things go bad there is always a way out! 😄

That sounds like you installed/updated parts of the system that are not officially released yet ?!

There has been some work on the "code pin screen" a while ago but I can't remember it beeing officially released via any of the official channels : DEV/RC/Stable 🙂

            My phones :

            • BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Phone Edition - Ubuntu Touch 16.04 LTS
            • ZUK Z2 Pro - ZUI Android 8.x
            • Xiaomi Mi 9T - Jolla SailFish 3.4.x Community Build

            P.S. : I am NOT a developer! ;)

@phiibuntu Because you are on the latest RC you are getting the next OTA-21 please read blog for info https://ubports.com/blog/ubports-news-1/post/ubuntu-touch-ota-21-call-for-testing-3796 the login pin number screen is nothing to do with WayDroid and is part of the normal update process.

Thanks for your time, finally I factory reset, and then I install waydroid without waydroid helper.
                And it works.

I really think waydroid helper make apt-update AND apt-upgrade and complicate everything (it's my point of view ).

Then android app works UT app works. last thing (but not here) gps 🙂 if I solve that too I 'll make UT my only main phone 🙂

(Happy new year anyway 🙂 )

I only see that install Waydroid with waydroid helper make same problem that when I make apt update and apt-upgrade myself so I think that there's an apt-update AND apt-upgrade in waydroid helper script or something like that.

Maybe something has to do with the current channel.
But certainly there is some kind of side effect here, maybe from the specific device, from the channel or a combination of both...

                        @ruditimmer

Ok I understand. But after make an apt-get upgrade I have the same result than make install waydroid with waydroid-helper.

Even the code pin screen is changed. on my phone (on a fresh install )
                        It's why I thought that.

I write here to alerte other Redmi note 9s user who would like install waydroid with waydroid helper it's not an intuitive result, I had to test, and reinstall several time to almost understand 🙂

@phiibuntu You dont need to do an app-upgrade !! This is not needed to install WayDroid it would only brake your system, this new pin login screen it norlmoly dont worry about that...

@phiibuntu If you move back to stable until the 5th of this month you will have the old code screen back. It does not matter what you update the system with if you are on RC or Devel you will get the new code screen.
If ypu want to find out what is causing your issue I would clean install stable then WayDroid helper and go from there. If no issue all good. Then try the same if you must using apt and see what happens on stable. Then do the exact same from a clean install of RC. Might pin point where things change but make sure you follw exactly the manual install insructions.

Sorry for my bad english, but I already do test on stable OTA-20 with fresh install on Xiaomi redmi note 9S and reproduce the same issue with waydroid helper.
Now on a fresh reinstall I use waydroid without waydroid helper and it works normaly.

@phiibuntu Hello, im the dev of WaydroidHelper :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I want to clarify. Waydroid Helper only does apt update and you should NEVER EVER run apt upgrade on UbuntuTouch as this will most likely break your installation. Whatever causes your issue it is probably not related to WaydroidHelper
