What are the progress of the various projects: OTA-23, Ubuntu 20.04 port... ?
It would be fine to have a new communication, some fresh news (on the forum or a new Q&A ?) : the last communication is the Q&A of March 19 i think.
      Thanks

@domubpkm Not an excuse but with the recent Membership Committee and Board of Directors election and changes some of the people involved will have had changes to roles or been heavily involved in those elections. Things are now settling downand I'm sure the informaton will begin to flow again.
Maybe @Flohack can or has a brief update he can add for now.

@lakotaubp Yes. Sure, everything can be explained but, for years, we have never been used to such silence, which also results in a really minimal activity on the forum, a strange calm a bit like dead water of the tide (the dead water of the tide is only temporary ๐Ÿ™‚).

It just shows how much Dalton did, and that he's being missed. I'm sure we will adjust, but it takes a little time.

Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.

@domubpkm Only one thing i know is that RC is stuck for a while due to an issue in packaging for devices Halium 7.1, or some upstream code have changed, i don't remember correctly.
And it doesn't seems easy to fix...

Hope they will find a solution asap.

If you want to see progress, you can already check the repositories in github ( sorted by Last Update ) or on gitlab here: https://gitlab.com/groups/ubports/-/activity

We need more communication nerds for the community ๐Ÿ˜‰ - I can only say that if there are big news we will spread them.

20.04 I do not have much progress, and it seems to me as if the team starts seeing roadblocks and tries to work around them but it takes more and more time. So, this will be again delayed by months.

OTS-23: We had regressions with Bluetooth and other stuff, also our CI fails to build all devices, but with some luck we can deliver the first RC for OTA-23 this week.

Lately I get the feeling Ubuntu Touch is dying.

I am writing this on a Volla Phone with Ubuntu Touch.
I got a lot of issues, like more and more websites (PayPal, Sony, etc) reject my browser (uAdBlock deacรคtivated), apps not working any more because they were abandoned (Fluffy Chat, for now, there's Cinny) and so on.
Now, Ubuntu 20.04 is months away...

I got a Pinephone, too and I wonder, why this cheap device does so many things so much better out of the box (almost every OS). I don't have those problems, because I am allowed to install apps from the repositories, flathub and so on.

I wanted to back the new Volla Phone mainly due to the better camera. But since I'm not interested in Volla OS (tried it on my current Volla Phone), I didn't, because it doesn't make sense to me in the current state of UT.

What I like to know is, will UT be able to make enough progress to keep up or are the resources not enough?

The UBPorts Version of the Pinephone was let down already (I know, the community should have been responsible for that, but it's very annoying nevertheless).

What if I buy a new Volla Phone now, which isn't a cheap investment? Will there be a future?

I am only a simple user, but I am using UT since the first BQ came out. And I would love to do so in the future. But I need to know, if there is a future because right now, it doesn't seem so...

                    Please give me hope...

                    Happily running Ubuntu Touch:

I don't think there is a definitive answer to that, but I can tell you that even though things seem very quiet, there are interesting things going on behind the scenes. For example, here is an exciting thread on Twitter: https://twitter.com/lanux_mage/status/1522232106704945153

                        WOW !
Thunderbird on UT would be so good (same for Firefox btw).

Clickable supports Focal Desktop Mode starting from 7.4.0. So app developers can try whether their apps compile and start without crash on focal.

Until some compatibility layer is in place (its planned), one needs to change Ubuntu QML imports:
                          find -name '*.qml' | xargs -I {} sed -i 's/import Ubuntu\./import Lomiri./g' {}
