Accessing UT system files/folders via PC USB port?
-
I'm having a hard time finding a way to do this. I need to edit a .config text file and would prefer to do it on my Ubuntu computer.
How can I access system folders via my PC?
-
This is how I accessed my N5. I assume whatever phone you use is similar.
Connect the phone to the computer with an appropriate cable, then open the phone File Manager and unlock it with your password. The contents should then be visible on the computer.

Thanks! I also have a Nexus 5. When I unlock, I can see all the system data in the phone's File Manager but not on the PC (just the normally shown document folder).
Could be a bug with my file manager on the computer.

No that's not a bug, you can't access other folder than those you see from your computer.
Only by SSH if i remember correctly you can access other files. -

Thanks.

Nothing prevents to copy any file in 'Documents' for example of the UT smartphone to have access then by a computer.

SSH is the best way for transferring files from/to UT and it's so much more. So if anyone's willing to set it up, I highly suggest it

That's the route I went with it. Works.
