        Hi.

I have the Morph web browser. I also have Sapot and that's in OpenStore. How do I uninstall Morph?

        Thanks.

How can you trust that an app really won't send some company your location data, when you tell it not to? The only way you can trust a program not to do something it isn't supposed to do is if it is free software. ~ RMS

Morph is not "no longer in open store".
Morph is one off the core apps wich are installed/updated when you install/update Ubuntu Touch (like calling, messaging, settings, contacts...).
You can't uninstall those, be it a good thing or not.
Sapot is a fork of Morph.

Hi @Keneda. Ok. Is Morph dead?

@Opolork Morph is the default browser and it's a system app. It's not dead buti believe it won't receive updates, maybe only on OTA upgrade or distribution upgrade (like Xenial to Focal)

If by "dead" you ask if it will receive updates, yes it will, on Focal, with OTAs.
On Xenial, it will not as there will be no more OTA update.

That said, without talking about deep updates, I would agree in principle that only QtWebEngine from morph Xenial remains either modeled on that of focal (5.15.14 for the moment) to preserve access to as much as possible of websites to owners of Xenial smartphones.

Maybe @kugiigi can keep updating QtWebEngine on Sapot Xenial ? πŸ™‚

@domubpkm When I heard that Sapot is a fork, I thought that meant Morph was on the way out.

@Opolork You can't uninstall Morph because it's currently packaged as deb and installed in the readonly part of the system. Ideally this will be changed in the future. Currently, Morph also provides the codebase for webapps so it's not advisable to remove it.

@domubpkm Sadly, it's not possible. QtWebEngine is provided by the system which Sapot (and Morph) utilizes. Upgrading it would need changes to the system. We're also almost at the end of the Qt5 version, if not the last version, and the next version would need Qt6 which would be more complicated πŸ˜…

Okay, indeed. What I was wondering is if there were a lot of differences (amount of work for a developer) between Xenial and Focal regarding this.
