I already asked elsewhere, @unisuperbox, but I'll put it here too.

I haven't been able to find any specs for the Librem 5 phone. Is it going to be a capable phone? i.e. will it be able to run X apps in Libertine? And will it converge?

@unisuperbox Maybe a silly question, but you'll be asked this surely in the near future. Would Librem 5 with Ubuntu Touch on it support Anbox? ( I and some other folks might need to use some Android apps from time to time) I know it's all about privacy and security, but when no apps or webapps for UT available, this would be beneficial for a wider adoption of UT.
Anyway, let us know if there is such a plan.(if this is even possible as there is no such an Android device)

A second question is about the pre-announced devices like OP3/3T OP5... is this still going to happen, or you'll drop it and will concetrate on Librem 5?
            Just courious.
            Thank you.

Can you say if it is the right time for buying a librem 5 or if it is a ''gamble'' presently ?

Have you or can you have some news of the next update of dekko ?

              Thanks

🙂 Thanks @libremax. I'd seen that page, but it doesn't say how much RAM the phone comes with or how much storage. No specifications about 1 or 2 sim cards, or whether it has an SD card slot. In fact, not much more than the fact that it's a 5" screen device with 4G, Bluetooth and WiFi.

@3arn0wl hi was going to suggest you ask here, but you've found your way. Should be very informative.

Look at "Tech specs", "*Specifications are subject to change".:

                      RAM: "3GB LPDDR3"
                      Storage : "32GB eMMC"
                      "MicroSD slot"
"SIM Slot": so one slim slot...

On your blog post you've made some statements about the purism hardware that appear to have been copied of the crowdfunding page. In several Q&A sessions and blogposts, purism have however answered questions related to hardware that deviates from that. For instance, in this reddit Q&A they claim dual sim is in the current spec list https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/87tbfl/todd_weaver_from_purism_doing_a_reddit_ama/

Could you have purism check the specs your posted are up to date? For me, dual sim is a Big Deal for instance 🙂

I'm proud to say that our efforts to get "something cool" in this episode have come to fruition!

Todd Weaver, CEO of Purism SPC, will be joining us tomorrow to talk about the Librem 5 and the UBports-Purism collaboration. This is going to be an extremely informative time for anyone who has questions on how this is all going to shake out, so I'd encourage you to get your questions in regarding these topics!

How will having a second "base" (one halium, one GNU) impact our development? Will we have two types with different update strategies, or will they always be based on the same ubuntu version?

I can imagine, for instance, that the much newer kernels available for the Purism phone will make certain features much easier to make available.

Question for purism: how is the process going of designing a phone? Are you on track with where you though you'd be by now? Is it more difficult then the laptops? How "libre" is the iMX stack compared to the intel stack - are there bootloaders and Management Engines to dodge here as well?
