        Re: VoLTE status on Pixel 3a/3a XL

        Hi I am interested in switching to UBPorts, but the requirement to be able to make calls in Europe (I actually live in the United Kingdom) is of paramount importance.

        Has anyone tested VoLTE on the Pixel 3a in Europe or the United Kingdom?

          @ekstepj I have been using it on the FP5 for a few weeks now with no issue. However I don't think the Pixel 3a is getting voLTE. It should get Noble 24.04. Don't know of any issues with voLTE in Europe either for those devices that have it.

            @Lakotaubp thanks.

            I see Google released a patch for Pixel 3a that enabled VoLTE - so it doesn't appear there are any hardware issues.

            I wonder if I should just try!

              According to recent Q&A's, it has been confirmed that Pixel 3A will get Noble 24.04 but will NOT get VoLTE on Ubuntu Touch, as the kernel should be hardly patched to do so.

              I'm not sure which devices are "VoLTE" ready at present time, but it seems that most of Xiaomi devices as well as Volla phones (since 2022) are in. Fairphone 4 + 5 should follow with Noble too.
              Future ported devices should all get VoLTE as well normally.

              No idea for the other supported smartphones, I guess this will depend on the porters.

                Yes, as @stanwood said, very, very unlikely that Pixel 3a will ever have VoLTE with Ubuntu Touch. One of the top Ubports wizards has decided it's not worth it, after not getting the help he needed. The only way it would happen is if another very technically skilled person stepped up.

                It's still fairly new that VoLTE works with any devices and has been a huge effort and achievement.
                I hope you're able to make the switch - it's a fantastic OS. But the best bet generally is to look over the list of supported devices that do what you need and try to buy one of those. Be careful to make sure VoLTE is supported with Xiaomi. I think it's working on Poco X3 and Redmi Note 9 Pro, but not on regular Redmi Note 9 and some others?
                We're all hopeful that this list will expand. A lot of other devices work well, only lacking VoLTE.

                  I use daily the redmi note 9 pro in Belgium and it's works perfectly with my operator (Orange). Phone call, SMS and MMS are functionnal.

                    Fairphone 5 with Orange in Spain works well with Volte.
