I got a FP5 specifically to use UT.

My FP came with android 14 out the box. UT installation instructions say we need 13. Do I need to move to 13 or is it safe to do the install from 14?

@RJDan I don't have a Fairphone 5, but on the devices page for the Fairphone 5
https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/fp5/ , it is said that on "see how to install UT" :
"Your device must be running the Fairphone OS version of Android 13 before installing another operating system. With a previously installed custom ROM, it won't work! "

But yes, wait a confirmation of the procedure of somebody who flashed UT on Fairphone 5...

It will work on Android 14 and I can confirm that but there's a risk you'll encounter random issues that other people won't encounter. So in short, I suggest you downgrade to Android 13. Fairphone provides a quick way to do it anyway πŸ˜„

I have tried the instructions on the fairphone website. The intsller starts but then nothing actually happens. I have asked for help on the FP forum.

Here is what I asked on that side:

I want to try ubuntu touch on my FP5, so I need to downgrade from Android 14 (pre-installed) to Android 13.
I have successfully followed the instructions on the FP page for unlocking the bootloader etc (https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/18896094650513-How-to-manually-install-Android-on-your-Fairphone)

I downloaded the zip file, unzipped it and ran the script. It detects the phone and asks if I am sure I want to continue. I say yes, It then does nothing.

Here is the output from the terminal.

                  ❯ ./flash_fp5_factory.sh

                  *** Fairphone 5 flashing script ***

Are you sure you want to continue?
