        I was on 15 for a bit and then got concerned that there had not been any updates for a long time. So after checking it out on here, I moved to 16.04 rc. I must admit that I do like it and getting regular updates makes me feel better. As said before 16 is the way UBPorts wants to go, so I would too personally stick with that. Also if you just need the phone for making overseas calls, I do not see that it would make much difference what version you are on, so why not go for the latest and greatest.

          @dr1445 said in 15 stable or 16 rc?:

          is 15 stable still getting updates

          Best to my knowledge there will be one final update, the one to 16.04 stable 😉

            I am using OPO on 15.04. If I update to a 16.04 build, will my personal data get wiped, or will everything be retained?

              @isolated-thinker it depends on whether you check the wipe option or not.

              Anyway, if your data is truly important for you, you should make backups 🙂

                @advocatux Would you recommend RC or Dev?

                    @lakotaubp I just downloaded and installed from the Dev channel, and my OPO still shows that I'm on 15.04 with (r281) after that.

                    Do I need to update from the desktop installer and not from the device?

                      @isolated-thinker I'm using 16.04 devel.

                      RC channel is updated ~weekly, and Dev channel ~daily.

                        @isolated-thinker the automatic jump from vivid to xenial will be OTA-3 to OTA-5.

                        You need to install 16.04 for now.

                          @isolated-thinker If your OPO was on 15.04 the only way at the moment to get 16.04 is to use the installer and choose 16.04 dev from the options list and choose the wipe option for the best install. Yes all your info etc will go, so you will need to take a back up of your device first.
                          You have currently updated to the dev version of 15.04 from what you say. You can stay where you are on 15.04dev if you are happy with it and you will at somepoint in the future be able to update to 16.04 directly. However the time scale for that is not set in stone at present and is at least a few weeks away.
