PinePhone

Interesting news. Sounds like it's going well. I'll be in for one of the early adopter models.
-
I want this running LuneOS, but I'd be happy with anything FOSS-based. I'm in for the first one they'll let me buy!
-
It might be like hungry dogs around a bowl of food to get one of the first phones !!
-
I want one of the early adopters batch as well! Just take my money now!
-
@PINE64 Please, at the appropriate time, could you explain the complete procedure for acquiring or reserving the Pinphone with the links to your site in question : creating an account for a new customer... Thank you.
-
@domubpkm It will likely be something similar to what we did today for the pinebook pro (minus all the mistakes and associated mess): https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=7725
-
@PINE64 I'm going to wait for a Pinebook on general release, but I think you might get a rush of preorders from this forum for the Pinephone Once again Thank you for your time and effort in keeping this thread well informed and upto date. It is very much appreciated and good to see.
-
@PINE64 Thank you for your answer. I was right to ask the question! Your system can't be guessed! So, to make short, to be one of the first to be served, we have first to be registered on the pine 64 forum now? Isn't it ??
-
@domubpkm possibly. Its actually a good system (the issues today were caused by a super bizarre bug we honestly couldn't predict or even replicate in testing), but perhaps its not right for the PinePhone? After all, there are so many other communities involved, other than ours (PINE64), in the PinePhone project.
In the case of the PinePhone it will be even more important that proper enthusiast get their hands on the device first. I may have to reach out to the relevant parties - the different projects - closer to the date so we can think of something collectively.
-
@Lakotaubp our pleasure
-
@PINE64 thank you for your clarification made
-
Hey everyone, a lot of PineTab news (probably relevant to some) as well as some PinePhone news. We expect a lot of PinePhone news next month as outlined in the post: https://www.pine64.org/2019/08/05/august-update-london-meetup-pinetab-news-soedge-and-more/
-
Pictures of the PinePhone case. Now we're eagerly waiting for the PCB [edit] hope no one minds the images being so large...
-
@PINE64 great!
BTW will the camera have a sliding cover?
-
@advocatux Nope. Figured no need for it since you can just turn the camera off permanently via the hw switch.
[edit] but you can 3d print your own cover with a sliding cover - the .stp file is publicly available.
-
@PINE64 ah yes, that makes sense.
-
@PINE64 It's a great flashback to see screw holes. User-repairable devices have become so old-school, but I love it. Nice to see a phone you'll be able to fix yourself. You might want to send one of these to ifixit once it's done.
-
@visiblink Yes and it goes together like a puzzle Think anyone will be able to fix it by themselves.

@domubpkm interesting find. The world is full of surprises
