Please elaborate about the near future and milestones of Dekko2. I do not see any progress for weeks. During the day I use the MUA on my FreeBSD laptops (mutt), when I'm on "the road" I do (or try to) use Dekko2 in my BQ E4.5. Due to its ongoing crashes and other issues (see the tracker) I'm forced to return to my M10 FHD which still runs the latest UT version of Canonical with the old Dekko 😞

This situation is, at least for me, really a showstopper.

      Thanks

      Matthias

What are the future milestones of UBports? Have you moved the milestones from Github (empty since OTA-8) or aren't there any?

When the Pinephone/Librem 5 phones are released. Will UBports consider them flagship-type models due to their openness and will development be focused on those devices? If so will this mean older models like the BQ E5 and E4.5 become unsupported?

          Thanks.

What is currently the status of the sensors on all the devices that are running UT ? You all know that each device came with a lot of sensors (accelerometer, gps, magnetometers, nfc ....) are they working well on all devices ? for my device it is not the case. Do you plan to share some code example for developers who like to used them in some app? This can be very appreciated! For example NFC can be very usefull. I understand that making an OS stable is very difficult when it run on a lot of different devices but actually UT is far away to be unstable, can we imagine to have now more working device's functionalities for the existing one ?

Meizu Pro 5, Meizu Pro 5, Meizu Pro 5, Meizu Pro 5 (Yes I have 4 of them)
Never forget that they are much more ideas inside two heads than in one...

Where are you now on the duo MIR / new Unity 8 ? Do you have a lot of sticking points ? Are those the cause we don't see a new OTA planned ? First getting a stable 'couple' MIR / Unity 8 is the foundation of the countinuation of the project ?

@guru As Dekko is not really a core app, I expect this is not a question to be answered in the Q&A. It's something you'll have to ask the developers working on Dekko directly.

Which other MUA do we have as core app?

And dont you think that this issue is something which should be part of Q&A?

Please remember that this thread is for potential Q&A questions for this Saturday and not general discussions on what should or should not be discussed in a Q&A. That is more suited to Off Topic. Thanks

Was just reminding of Do remember questions on porting to device **** or it's status and questions on bugs will not be answered. and that Dekko is not a core app or under ownership of UBports, so not likely for the aforementioned question about it to be answered here.

Ok, just drop/ignore my question about Dekko.

The new question for the Q&A is: Does the UBports project need a MUA as a core app and if so, what must be done to get it.

You can open a new thread in OT and express yourself there. Also, please, try to be less rude next time, thank you.

                                  Hello everybody,

Is there any plan for OTA 9 to include cardav sync into contact app?
Having contacts sync between my pocket computer, my nextcloud and my thunderbird/cardbook is important to me. It works find for my calendars thanks to the support of caldav in the calendar app.

If UT works smoothly on Pinephone like it does on nexus5, without the camera issue and with contact sync added, I'll finally be happy to have a pocket computer that "works" and I can trust 😊
[oh, and with a nice matrix client app like fluffychat with e2e and calls working, not only I'll be happy, but I'll be proud of it and others will be bored of hearing me promoting it 😁

                                  Thank you,

                                  Nexus 5

How comes that up to today not one single Halium port UT firmware is available for download? Is UT support for Halium still incomplete? After all some devices are "kindof" working since almost years. What is really stopping you from making ports available to a wider public?

A set of questions on a few different topics:

It would be interesting to hear about the state of the UT "market share" (yes, I know, it starts with some number of zeros ☺). What's a current WAG of the number of Ubuntu Touch users on UBPorts builds? Now that we're a couple of years out from Canonical's dropping UT, is that number growing or shrinking? (Based on number of forum and Telegram group users, I'd like to think it's growing.) How many users (if anyone knows) did Canonical ever have on UT?

Also, updates on PinePhone (I saw @mariogrip got the screen on the dev kit working!) and Librem 5 (if any) are always welcome, and of course as always, I'm not asking for an ETA, only interested in news. ☺

(The PinePhone in particular seems like a great opportunity to remind the world that Ubuntu Touch is alive and well in UBPorts care. Meaning no ill will at all towards GNOME or the Plasma Mobile team, I haven't heard of anyone working to port Purism's Phosh work to PinePhone or any other platform, and Plasma Mobile still seems a long way from being a feature-complete shell, so UBPorts stands to be in the limelight when the PinePhone debuts.)

Finally, what do you feel of the state of core development and the community with respect to each other? What are the pain points for core developers, i.e., things they wish the rest of us would do/stop doing/do better? Also, what are the things about the community or that the community are doing that excite the developers, i.e., things the rest of us should continue and improve?

As there is a big difference of price, to make a choice, the question : in what a Purism phone Librem 5 with UT should be more effective than a Pinephone with UT ?
