LGE Nexus 5 (hammerhead)

@Flohack there are a couple of gotchas:
the instructions should read: halium-install-standalone.sh -p ut u.... not halium-install
and
Can't do this on Ubuntu 16.04 as the package simg2img is not available until 18.04 - bummer
I'll have to upgrade away from Unity
-
@floop2 Actually you don't. Unity 7 was patched to run on 20.04. I have it on my low spec X86 tablet. It makes a world of difference, and I've noticed no bugs when using it.
There are also new distros featuring unity 7- Umix, Ubuntu Unity Remix
-
@floop2 Ok will fix but simg2img should be available for 16.04, I am still running this version: See https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/devel/android-tools-fsutils
-
I used the new Halium-installer from Gitlab. I don't know if it's makes any difference during installation.
-
@Rondarius There is a Halium installer? Tell me more xD
-
-
@floop2 There isn't a script by that name in the Halium-install-master folder and I have executed it like this ./halium-install -p ut... and it have worked every time.
-
I've got a HDMI slimport adapter, build works fine when connected to a monitor with usb, can run apps and work things fine using the touch screen mouse pad.
-
@cela Very good to hear thanks!
-
@Flohack after some fiddling I was able to install following your updated instructions. No access to Openstore, Morph complained of invalid site certificates (ususable), weather app picked up my city no problem, bluetooth did find my speakers. Checking battery usage.
-
@floop2 Invalid site certificates is probably due to wrong time setting. Whats your time & date?
-
I'm not really sure if I installed it successfully because the micro-USB port of my Nexus 5 is really bad
I already have UT on it before installing this, is it expected that the user data is retained? So far, in my observation, it feels slower than the usual especially in the app spread which is a bit sluggish. It's working though so it's already a great progress. Keep it up Good luck!
-
@cela awesome. The touch pad used to work well on the estable nexus 5. Now it doesn't work anymore. Glad to know it's working again with halium

I thought the install didn't take at first, my user data was kept too, but then noticed the offline battery animation has changed for the better!. Hope video acceleration will fix the sluggish UI and video experience.

You are right. The lack of GPU acceleration is the biggest issue from my point of view. I really hope the debs will manage to get it working
-
@kugiigi yes the user data will stay, its just replacing the root fs and system image (and kernel ofc).
-
@Flohack correct. Manually adjusted date & time and issue (invalid site certificates) fixed. Battery performance with no SIM, wifi off, screen off (ie phone not used) charge level went from 100% to 66%.
-
@floop2 In 24h? Or which time?

Just did a battery endurance test. Charged to 100% left on standby with screen off, bluetooth, gps and wi-fi off. no sim fitted at 10am 17th Sept, checked device at 10.05 am on 18th Sept and showed 72% charge remaining. This is with a second hand Nexus 5 with stock battery, looks good, will leave for another 24h, edit : - and at 48hrs 42% charge left.

As I wanted to give a tried I was not able to download the rootfs image, the download start but unfortunately always failed. Is there an other link to it ?
