Call for testing: Nexus 5 (hammerhead) owners

@dobey I am confused with all that USB extensions. I remove MHL again^^
For ADB: Thats a Halium port, they come without adb and use RNDIS/ssh instead. So thats kinda expected. @fredldotme made a point though that some Halium devices might have issues with RNDIS, so we might have to support both.
BUt as I understood the plan was to deprecate adb fully. -
I have an N5 with Ubports OTA11 RC, how can I test it?
thanks -
I can help with this as my Nexus 5 is now spare after switching to a ONO for my daily driver.
-
Sorry guys but the virus outbreak caused some stress here that I am sorting out. I will write a guide for installation ASAP. Also, we are trying to get experimental builds into the installer, it will be much easier then

I tested it a bit, main issue for me is performance, probably cpu is not working at full power
-
I'd be happy to help with the testing. Will possibly need to wait a couple of days, as my N5 is currently my daily driver, but from some time early next week I should be ready.

Hi @Flohack do you know if it is possible to use only a simcard with only mobile network on it? no phone number connected to it. I have tried but when I am trying to use the webbrowser it detects no network and the symbol for mobile network is black=no signal.
-
@Rondarius I have mine on Google Fi data only sim, no number. Works just fine
-
@rocket2nfinity Hm, I plugged in another simcard in my 6P and it worked, I will try to use another card on my N5 see if it solves my problem.
-
Hi, not sure if I'm late or not but I'd be glad to help out
-
@ImmyChan I think a can speak for Flohack and welcome you, and no you are not late it is still under development.
-
Is Ubuntu 16.04 still a hard requirement to build, now that you are on Halium 7.1? Or would an 18.04 system build fine? Will you also include a guide on how to build your latest code from source?
-
@enrolado You can build halium on any system, it is very similar to building android. I am using Manjaro linux without problems.
-
@Flohack I would happily help you guys test for hours (have a lot of time and very interested).
But I need a Nexus 5 w Ubuntu....know where I can buy one aside from Ebay?
I bought a oneplus 1, but hosed the installation....just reluctant to do it myself.
-
@Nathan123 I have an extra one I'm willing to let go for you to enhance the Halium 7.1 version. DM me so we can work out the details!
-
Update:
Thanks to @rubencarneiro we are progressing now finally on the core features. Audio in calls seems to work, only minor adjustments needed. Also we have unblocked auto brightness and proximity sensor
-
PS GPS works too now ^^
-
@Flohack As a member of the large community of Nexus 5 users Iβm really grateful and impressed of all the great job youβre performing with Ubuntu Touch.
-
I think I'll also join testing this with my "new" Nexus 5 which I don't use anymore because of an issue with the modem and charging.
-
Hi, I was just wondering if there's any new concerning the development of the Halium 7.1 port for the Nexus 5? Will it be finally released in a future OTA? Is there any way to help you?
Thank you very much for your feedback!
