Links from webapps are opening in Onion browser default instead of Morph
-
@AppLee Its not only related to that particular app. I love to use Onion browser most of the time.. but not always. so the default application that open on clicking a link in another webapp should be default browser and the user have the liberty to copy link and open it in another browser...
-
@jittopjose
The default app is Morph.
But I suspect a side effect from forking Morph to create Onion.I guess maybe the app's name can set the priority.
But it's just speculation, hence my ping to nanu-c Onion's creator (lets call him "The Gardener"). -
The problem here is, that morph and onion are registering an url handler...
-
And there is no place where to define the default app for an url
-
@nanu-c If it's not immediately possible or desirable to make a single browser (embedding Tor in Morph), can't you yourself include in onion a mechanism to disable/re-enable Tor? Maybe this could be a workaround?
-
@domubpkm
The workaround is long press the link.
Then chooseCopy link
And paste it anywhere you like. -
@AppLee Of course, when it's possible! But it's not automated, it's handmade !

I will have a look into adding tor to morph, but my idea was to get some feedback from the tor foundation, because then we have a semi-official tor-browser.
That never happend.
Adding non tor browsing means we have something like rival browser to morph and I am the only person maintaining Onion, while ubports and more people are behind the other one.
So either what we need is- Standard app selection for url handlers -> unlikly to happen soon
- Unregister the url-handler -> i like it to have onion browser as first choice
- Disable/enable option for tor in onion -> how should we visually indicate, that tor is off?
- Add tor to morph -> i have no clue how to addapt the deb building for including tor-binary in the right place -> help needed
-
Thank you for your continuing work on the Onion Browser, it is very much appreciated.

I agree. This app is a must-have and everyone can notice that it's being developed with a lot of care.
