OTA-12 Is Released
-
Everyone, allow us to introduce you to Ubuntu Touch OTA-12.
It seems like everything is new with this update, including a new home screen (don't call it a home screen), a color and style refresh that's safe for your eyes, and small tweaks to make your phone experience more thoughtful. Not to mention the herculean efforts under the hood. You can download OTA-12 right now on your Ubuntu Touch device. Or if you're running Ubuntu Touch from the devel, rc, or edge channels, you're already rolling with us on something newer than OTA-12. Enjoy the ride!

Thank you! The update went very smoothly on my OPO and so far everything seems to work fine!
-
Congratulations to the team! This is a significant upgrade for UT.
-
Congrats for all the hard work! Great release!
You said last Canonical changes to Unity8, how about the multi-display support and workspace switcher?
Also, I got excited when I read about the unannounced hardware -
Thanks so much for the release
installed and everything seems to work fine, great update ^ ^

A big thanks to everybody. I noticed my One Plus One getting a bit faster and I like the new menu better than the old one.
-
Awesome work! I upgraded my Meizu Pro 5.
-
Very well done, you've done a great job, we're on the right way,
Regards....

I've been running RC for a while now, so I could have some fixes from OTA-12. Now that it's been released, can I just switch back to Stable without any issue?
-
@RandomUser
I did without problem. -
@RandomUser please remember that OTA-12 is now slightly behind RC, as RC has moved on slightly. Changing back to stable should have very little effect though.
-
@Lakotaubp I think RC is still the same as stable now, we did not merge any big things since we kept RC frozen for nearly 2 weeks...

Is it possible to hide the launcher, so it'd appear after a swipe from the left? Or, disable it completely?
-
@chdslv
Didn't find any option to do so, UT Tweak Tool has an option to do so, but not working on home screen, only for apps, maybe it'll be updated.Γdit : but maybe your question was about hiding in apps?
-
Earlier the launcher stayed hidden. Now, it is just another thing that takes space. In the N5, it is just wasting space. The App Drawer is enough. I would be happy, if the launcher could be disabled, uninstalled, by default.

@chdslv
Did you read what i said ?
Try UT Tweak Tool hide option. -

Did you read what i said ?I did. I'd like it to stay out by default, system-wise.
Not using any tweak tool, but by default. -
@chdslv
UT Tweak Tool is ubports devs endorsed. -

UT Tweak Tool is ubports devs endorsed.I want to have a clean look. It is just there wasting space and making the phone look thinner than it is. I'd like a way to uninstall it from the system, not from a tweak tool. Just a suggestion to devs.
FYI, the UT Tweak can make it autohide and make it thin, up to 6, but it is still ugly, to have it on the left. So, would like to get rid of it permanently.

Do what you want, UTTT is a must have app and should be part of system default apps, and sure some options it gives will be implemented in futur, but as for now it's the only simple way to do what you want.
