Battery draining
-
Noticed it on a BQ E4.5. Quite significant.
-
i also noticed this behavior (bq e4.5).
This happens only if i open Teleports. If i restart the phone and i avoid using teleports, the battery drain is as before. Maybe it left some service on?
Do you use teleports too? -
@theulpio Well I think it's maybe an issue about Teleports.
Indeed, It's already happened to me that Teleports drains a lot of battery. It seems that occasionally when a private message comes, Teleports opens automatically on the scopes (left column) even when device is in sleep mode.
Sometimes I feel my Nexus 5 becoming very hot in my pocket, and notice that Teleports is open on the top left of the scopes.
But this happened already in OTA-14 & OTA-15 so I'm not sure it's an OTA-16 relative issue. -
@stanwood Unlikely, if the device is turned off with the power button, or TELEports is in the background, its actually suspended. As all the other apps.
-
@flohack Thank you Flohack, Ok nice, so it confirms that it's not an issue related to TELEports. (and this happens to me very rarely)
-
@stanwood I think what you're talking about is the icon of TELEports being updated with the count of notification in the launcher. It doesn't mean the app actually opens. The app with the notification just appears in the launcher.
In regards to battery draining, I'm still unsure if there's a significant regression with the battery. So far it seems to be the same although just this morning I was waiting for my alarm while sleeping. It never got off because my phone died I remember it has around 30+% before I slept. However, this already happened a few times before OTA-16.
-
As far as i can tell, my MX4 still has the same battery consumption as before (with the same hardware battery bug it already had since its birth).
-
@theulpio Yes, I use teleport as always but the problem I have only after updating to ota-16. Since I use Axolotl and it is always open, maybe it depends on it.
-
Hi @giampy
Axolotl is probably the cause.
It requires to prevent suspension in order to get notifications working.
So it drains battery a lot faster.But it should have been the same before OTA16
-
@applee I had not this problem using axolotl before ota-16.

I bought my phone as a new device about a year ago, and flashed it to UT right after the Android update. So the battery is not preloaded.
On my Xperia (F5121) are only the official apps (12) installed and additionally the app Tagger.
(Where I have to take a photo first for the focus to work, and then load and process the image via gallery access, in the app. Works fine.)
I need the Xperia primarily as a cell phone, then I use the following apps: camara, calendar, calculator, weather, and occasionally the morph browser.
(As soon as the phone call via the car handsfree (bluetooth) works, there's money for the UBports community in the form of a donation).
So, the device is not used intensively, and that's why I notice the difference in battery consumption so clearly.
So it must have a connection with the update OTA-16, from my point of view.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Perhaps this can help, yesterday, in the afternoon, a pylon with the telephone antennas broke in the eastern part of the city where I live and therefore the phone does not work with the sim. From that moment the battery lasted longer, I was only connected in wifi.
-
@giampy Same issue with my xperia x, the battery drains faster now, after ota16.
-
@hsabun I wonder how you use your phones. I have my xperia X connected to wifi all day and I don't notice difference in battery. I usually charge once day and get around 18-24 hours per full charge.
-
@kugiigi If you used the phone with the sim card you would notice the pain. My Xperia X is for daily use on stable channel.
-
@giampy Yes, I have a sim card. It's my daily driver too. I don't use mobile data though, just wifi since I'm always at home these days I'm not a heavy user but I use from time to time for browsing, email, and telegram.
-
@kugiigi Apparently we have found the problem, the data connection with the sim card.
-
@giampy
Mobile data is known to drain the battery faster than WIFI (especially 4G) but that doesn't explain how OTA16 may have changed something.
The power consumption for the modem should not have changed... -
@applee said in Battery draining:
Mobile data is known to drain the battery faster than WIFI (especially 4G)
Is that specific to this particular phone or does it apply to all of them?
-
@cliffcoggin
This is the same on my phone, that's why i run most of time on 3G and only switch to 4G when i need more bandwich (more bandwich = more energy).
Wifi consume less because you are near source (most of time at home), so power needed is lower for same bandwich.This probably also has to do with frequencies used in each case.
