Need testers Home Screen for Ubuntu Touch

Great Work!
Everything seems to work fine, except 3 things:
-The edit grid is not fitting the screen size
-The background is not detected if it has not been changed since installation
-The notes widget preview is different from realityI think you did a great job and thats definitely something can be extended further into a real dash alternative
-
@aarontheissueguy
"The edit grid is not fitting the screen size"
uHome uhome.pavelprosto_0.6.1_all.click you try this version or old?
"The background is not detected if it has not been changed since installation"
In menu press "Smart restart" it's help. The program has very limited permissions. The program cannot track system events - As a background change, it is prohibited. Because otherwise, the same will be allowed for widgets. -
@pavelprosto
You should edit your first post with new link everytime you release a new version ^^Anyway, i got a weird bug where, for the first time since i'm using uTouch, i no longer had the contact names for conversations in messaging app, and no news messages advert in it, it only showed phone numbers instead.
I tried to reboot (shut off then restar), same bug...
So i told to myself "what changed since you have this bug", and answer was "installing uHome", so i cleared data then uninstalled with UTTT, rebooted, and voilà , messaging app is working again (names and new messages shawn).
I reinstalled uHome and so far bug did not come back...
-
It is very strange. Let's hope it doesn't happen again. The program cannot write and read other people's directories, except for its own and directories with background images
-
@pavelprosto We'll see ^^
Anyway since you made a localization possibility, i tried to make a french one that i proposed on your git, so if i did thing well (first time i do that on a git, so i may made mistake), and if that's good to you, you can add it.
Edit : ok i think i did wrong lol... Started again...
PS : i think there is a mistake in the po/pot files line 61"Are you shure remove this widget?" should be "Are you sure to remove this widget?", i didn't correct it in fr.po as i though it would not work until corrected in the qml file.
-
@pavelprosto I meant that the default background set after flashing the phone is not detected. Not even after smart restart. Grid is fixed now
-
@keneda Thank you so much for your help Don't worry, I edited your file. New version contains French localization
uhome.pavelprosto_0.7.1_all.click -
@pavelprosto Hello. What is the temperature update interval about the widget ? The temperature shown on the widget is, as far as I'm concerned, different from the one proposed internally and directly by the weather app.
-
@aarontheissueguy I can't get the desktop background because the UBport team doesn't want to give read permissions to the user's background image.
This is very insulting and I'm already tired of persuading them. They publish applications with "template": "unconfined" (full system access) permission.
I am asking for permission to read the user's background image. This permission is only read, it can in no way harm the user and his phone.
I will update this application in the header, but alas, this program will remain just a concept -
@pavelprosto
Why don't you just put a custom background just for uHome?
I mean, make uHome have its own background.But i don't understand what's the problem you are talking about with @aarontheissueguy , my background is the same between uHome and uTouch, and it's a customised one imported on phone by me, not one from default uTouch ones.
-
@keneda without these permissions, it is not possible to implement the next step - live wallpaper for the desktop.
uHome's goal is to add to Ubuntu Toch those interface features that other operating systems are famous for. -
@pavelprosto isn't it possible if you host the wallpaper in your app folder?
-
@pavelprosto Just saw that we can now edit uHome by long pressing on a widget of our choice and TELEports icon. Thanks also for french meteo !
-
@pavelprosto This version is much better, long press on the widget and you can access its settings, I like it. uhome 0.7.1
-
Thank you all for the kind words of support You inspire me and give me strength I keep developing, see you soon in the open-store
-
@pavelprosto
Thing that would be more convinient, is the widget colors settings not reseted each time you open the color to choose.Glad to ear you soon release your app on the open-store
PS : you didn't answered my question above ^^
-
@keneda
"my background is the same between uHome and uTouch"This version of the UHome app has the permission to read the user's wallpaper. The final version of this feature will not be able to.
"/var/lib/AccountsService/users/phablet"
/var/lib/lightdm-data/phablet/ubuntu-system-settings/Pictures/"
perrmission to be removed
But don't worry, you can add your own wallpapers via the Content Hub."isn't it possible if you host the wallpaper in your app folder?"
Yes it possible for programm, but don't possible for me. I'm not a professional artist, I'm not a professional photographer, I'm just a programmer. Without the perrmission to read the standard uToch wallpaper, you end up with a black screen.
in final version read this folder perrmission to be removed
"/usr/share/backgrounds/"
But don't worry, and thanks to everyone for your help! A very beautiful surprise awaits us in the final version"the widget colors settings not reseted each time you open the color to choose."
uToch does not contain a color selection dialog. I am using ColorPicker from @rshest. it does not support this function.
But don't worry, I am developing my ColorDialog and it may be included in the final release. -

in final version read this folder perrmission to be removedThat's not a problem, just make it possible to add custom wallpapers in your app, hosted in app folder.
If someone wants the same wallpaper as uTouch core OS one, he just has to use file explorer and then copy/paste one to your app dedicated wallpaper folder .
And if you need a default custom one, lot of people here can help you make/find one (open source of course), and even, you can yourself copy the uTouch default one(s) to past in app wallpaper folder, they are open-source after all ^^

@keneda:
"you can yourself copy the uTouch default one(s) to past in app wallpaper folder, they are open-source after all ^^"
No, can't. Each image has its own copyright. Photo contributors have submitted these images for use by uToch, but not for uHome. The only way to use them is if the user has chosen them to be displayed as the desktop wallpaper. -
@keneda
"And if you need a default custom one, lot of people here can help you make"
Yes I know. This is a very beautiful surprise, which you will learn about very soon.
