Changing your phone's name
-
Hello,
When you install UT on your phone, you are asked to choose your phone's name. It is then displayed when you unlock your screen. If you want to change that name on Linux, you need to use the
hostname
command. If you type that command on UT, the hostname isubuntu-phablet
, not the name chosen.
So, how do you set a new name ? Or am I confused between your account's name and your phone's name ?Regards,
Luna

@Luna
sudo usermod -c "NewName" phablet
-
@luna You must use UT Tweak Tools and delete ONLY conf file in System Settings. Maybe you will have to restart your phone, and then fill in what is required.
-
The name you set is only for display at the moment. And it can only be set in the setup wizard.

@Luna
sudo usermod -c "NewName" phablet

@c4pp4 will this not change the username? The OP wants to change the displayed name of the device in the login screen.
