Small phones
-
Are nexus 5 and xperia compact the only android devices that are on the smaller side? Im coming from an iphone 5 and i prefer the small on handed sidekick. Just curious if anyone had experience.
Thank you -
If you mean smaller phones that are compatible with Ubuntu Touch the answer is no. I have the Nexus 5 and find even that size (5.5 inch screen) is not small enough for my liking so I have recently been looking to no avail for something smaller. My ideal would be a 4 inch screen.

You can check the available list of devices here: https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/
Bq E4.5 is one of the smallest
-
@cliffcoggin Nexus is 5 inches
But yeah, not much small phones nowadays. I want small phones too but I'm fine with Nexus 5 and Xperia X's size.
-
@cibersheep thanks, yeah ill check that one out. Im pretty satisifed with my nexus 5 its a good size and looks pretty cool lol but i was seeing in the future because im not sure how long networks will support my phone.
-
@kugiigi Yes 5 inch screen in a 5.5 inch body. I failed to make that clear.
-
I prefer small phones too. Wish manufacturers would make more. My Nexus 5 has a pleasant form factor, but ideally I'd prefer even smaller.
-
@alter So if you are lucky, try to find a BQ4.5 which have a 4.5'' screen, a very stable device, but 3G only
-
Yes, the BQ 4.5 and 5 HD with there H network are old-fashioned phones but still almost perfect! The only drawback is that they still don't always hang up easily on incoming calls: but we've been dealing with this wooden leg for several years now... And too bad we can't customize a BQ E5 HD or BQ 4.5 in 4G!
The one who will manage to hack an iphone 'mini' in UT phone will be a God ! -
@lduboeuf & @domubpkm : BQ sounds nice size, but I'll keep my Nexus 5 as this supports 4G and the BQ doesn't. 3G is almost ending in my country, I need 4G capability. I just wanted to show my support for small phones. @domubpkm : yes a port to the iPhone Mini would be great but will be near impossible I think...

@alter why do people enjoy huge phones
-
@unrealb2
I think mostly for web browsing.
And in my case, the larger the keyboard is the better I feel.That's why I can't wait to receive my F(x)Tech Pro1 X
The keyboard is the best and more complex part of smartphones. -
@unrealb2 : I think @AppLee is right. Being able to view web/video better and having a large keyboard are plus points of huge phones. Of course, downside to them is they're less easy to carry. In that respect smaller phones are better. Which type you prefer is all a matter of priority. Unfortunately, choice in the latter category is limited. A few more phones would be nice.
