anbox halium or waydroid no support for UT?
-
@fp2andfp3-user Try here http://www.waydro.id/ Waydroid is the way to go. So they say
-
@lakotaubp thanks, but there is no description for mobile phones only desktop systems....or what do you mean?
-
@fp2andfp3-user I don't use it but ist should support UT as the project kicked off on here. This is the Telegram group https://t.me/WayDroid try asking in there.
-
@fp2andfp3-user Here's a basic installation instructions. It's dated of June 2021 and may not be the latest one....
It worked on my spouse's Vollaphone but then some UT apps did not open anymore, so please refer to WayDroid Telegram group for more infos as @Lakotaubp explained:
Go here: https://github.com/Anbox-halium/anbox-halium
Download the WayDroid kernel specific to the device from a computer and open it in a terminal.
Connect the device to the PC and reboot it in Fastboot mode.
On the PC terminal type:
fastboot flash boot "kernel name"
Start the smartphone and enter the terminal, then type:
wget -O - https://github.com/Anbox-halium/anbox-halium/raw/lineage-17.1/scripts/install.sh | bash
Then:
sudo ubports-qa install xenial_-_android9_-_wayland
Reboot the device.
To start Anbox, go into the terminal and type:
sudo ./home/anbox/start-container.sh
That's it. Please remind that WayDroid is still experimental and may brick your phone is smth goes wrong with the installation!!!

@fp2andfp3-user you can switch branch to lineage-17.1 in github, there you will have the instructions for UT.
-
@stanwood thanks to all i will test it
-
@stanwood do you know which apps will stop Working? For example axolotl? How can i remove it after testing?
Thanks
-
@fp2andfp3-user I had troubles with Camera, Calculator, Notes, and a few others (don't remember exactly). I had to reinstall UT.
-
@stanwood and Format data?
-
@fp2andfp3-user Now I'm just looking at https://docs.waydro.id/usage/install-on-desktops
And it seems a complete new way (and easier) to install...
sudo -s sudo mount -o remount,rw / apt update apt install waydroid -y waydroid init
Then restart device, then:
sudo waydroid container start waydroid session start
BUT, I asked for a confirmation to the WayDroid Telegram group. I will edit this message if it's wrong...
Edit: It seems correct for UT. BTW, I didn't test it so far...
-
@stanwood
Don't forget to say system must be made read/write before starting process ^^Anyway, does that new install process means we don't need anymore a patched kernel to run waydroid ?
-
@keneda Indeed, That's what I understood as well.
Needs to be tested though.Edit: Thank you, I just add sudo mount -o remount,rw / in my previous installation guide
-
@stanwood it is not running....old New anbox halium was running no errors
-
@stanwood tried again and no it is starting thanks for your support
-
@fp2andfp3-user Great! With the new easy installation way described here above? What device are you using?
-
@stanwood I tried with a pixel 3a and when i start wayland I get
"start: Unknown job: waydroid" -
