@s710 skillfully develops a plant recognition app for UT.

The idea would be to have too for UT an app kept easy to use, if possible without registering for any account (tested working very well with Shazam under AOSP), taking advantage of existing APIs.

As said @Emphrath , there is an app of this type which performs this function (others too i think), but which has not been maintained for a long time, and which requires one or more account creation(s) : Music Recognition

Something really user friendly would be good in my opinion.
Would you like it? (if a talented developer wanted to develop this project).

If one day there can also be a small app for identifying music tracks, that would be great !

Well, as it seems, Shazam actually provides 3rd party app APIs, so this could be a thing 😆

@emphrath I didn't know, thanks. But it is an old app... I don't know if it works on Volla. I must test. Is your last comment for this app in OpenStore is always valid ?

@domubpkm I couldn't tell since I don't have the Oneplus anymore. What I do know is it worked on devel because it was the only branch at the time that implemented changes in qtwebengine related to microphone support. Now these made it to stable so it should work on any device I believe. The Pixel 3a I have now is an arm64 device working on top of halium so I don't know the relevance of running it compared to the Volla... Nonetheless I'll reinstall it and let you know.

@s710 I tried Shazam under Volla OS (AOSP) and the identification of music tracks matches very simply without creating and registering a personal account. Only access to the microphone is requested. Maybe something similar is doable under UT?

Yeah as I said, shazam seems to provide a public API. This might mean that it could be possible to create a UT native app which uses shazam cloud services to recognize music.

But as I understand it, there is existing apps for UT which are capable of recognizing music?

[edit] Actually I think I got it wrong. There is official client libraries for Apple and Android, however those cannot be used.
But there is a reverse-engineered python library which seems to be fully featured, which could probably be used.

The idea would be to have something as easy to use and efficient as translate ut (walking-octopus) does for translating.

I really, really don't understand why is this thread still going on. There IS an app, it works flawlessly, and once you've filled in your keys, all it asks indeed is microphone access. Now if shazaam doesn't ask you fill anything, it's probably because it uploads, uses and sell all the information it deems interesting about your person. Having different apps doing more or less the same thing is what results in the absolute clusterfuck that is the IOS appstore for example, making it pretty hard to find anything, unless you know precisely what you're looking for. And finally, I use and like the translate app, but I really don't think an app relying on a mirror of a google api is sth to look forward to.

This is probably a spammer, I'll moderate the link, but it's the second weird message from @ritomkai that raise suspicion.
Next time or sooner we'll ban them.
