Which phone ?
-
@sven Nope I have the normal Volla Phone. But tell me anyway.

@s710 You can compare with Geekbench 5 scores if you keep in mind that all Vollaphones are variants of Gigaset phones. (Yes, Geekbench is Android based, but it should be a good indication for Linux, too.)
The first Vollaphone corresponds to the Gigaset GS290; I see a single-core score of 150 and a multi-core score of 902. The FP4 is much faster: 642 and 1878.
BTW: The Vollaphone 22 corresponds to the Gigaset GS5 and is somewhere in the middle, with scores 352 and 1296.

Can you maybe share some details about UT usage beyond the benchmark numbers? Eg opening times of apps, stuttering, slow downs or other kinds of issues while using the app switcher, gallery, browser, other apps and so on?
Btw do you run the 20.04 channel or 16.04?

Not scientific but
volla < volla 22 < Fairphone 4.
That said, the Vollas are good mid-range smartphones and I have confidence in the professionalism of the Hallo Welt Systeme team.
Anyway, whatever the smartphone, Vollas, Fairphone or other smartphones, i think everything will depend on the efforts that will be invested by developers so that ubuntu 20.04 is well supported. A plus is that the Fairphone 4 will probably support 5g, not vollas. -
@domubpkm
One plus for Vollas is multiboot support though.
Hopping this feature to be ported for all devices that can handle this. -
@s710 Still running OTA-24, i.e. Ubuntu 16.04. I use my phone rarely, so I have no valuable impressions from the user interface.

I would start by recommending a device that's got ubuntu 20.04 as an option
- Xiaomi Poco M3
- OnePlus 5
- OnePlus 5T
- OnePlus 6
- Xiaomi Mi A2
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 7
- Google Pixel 3a
- Volla Phone
- Volla Phone X
- Sony Xperia X
- Fairphone 4
- Volla 22
I've mostly heard updates from Alfred who praises the Pixel 3a, and also talks about the Fairphone 4, I know the OnePlus 5 runs wonderfully, and I know you can get the OP5 for pretty cheap.
What's best for you, is up to you, but I wouldn't even consider looking at devices without 20.04 support because you don't know how long they'll last, you don't know if they'll ever get a 20.04 update.
Another thing to consider is, which companys help and support ubuntu touch? maybe if you want to support ubuntu touch, you should consider getting the phones that either give you it pre-installed, or at least show off, or help the developers in some way.
