@Charly Interesting. So if I used axolotl2 I may still need a separate device it sounds like. It's two bad the dualboot idea didn't work out.

Do you know if morph or sapot are considered secure browsers, in terms of privacy and so on?

Thanks a lot for the insights!

I hope the two ut browsers are safe. I get along well with morph and am always in private mode. With axolotl you can expect it to work as a full signal client at some point. But the signal apk should also be installable via waydroid. I have no experience of how well this works.

I do! I use Signal in Waydroid as a primary installation, and Axolotl2 on bare metal as a secondary; for linking the two, there is an in between needed, I use my laptop for that.
Linking should only be needed once, and I'm not yet sure how often it's needed to run the primary installation.

In daily life, I use Axolotl2, linked to Signal for Desktop on my laptop. Waydroid stays off.

@aaronm That sounds like a nice work around, Moem. I too, use Signal on multiple devices. It's probably the most important app for me on a phone, for use with family and so on. Thanks a lot! πŸ™‚

@aaronm Hey All, I have finally installed UT following this:
                    https://cloud.hallo-welt-systeme.de/s/He9ZsS7Kmn6X7Cr

I hear that UT is more secure that android and so on. Does this mean I am safer logging into my bank account, for example, using Morph on UT, vs firefox on android?

                    Thanks!

                      @Moem Hi Moem,

How, may I ask, did you get Waydroid working?

                      Thanks!

I installed it through the Waydroid Helper app. But do note that I'm not using a Volla, I'm using a Oneplus 5t. Shouldn't matter, but maybe it does?

That is a widely held misconception. UT is more privacy focused than Android, not necessarily more secure. That means the OS does not spy on you or collect your data.

I tend not to use bank websites on any mobile device as it is much more difficult to see if you are not being redirected because you clicked on a dodgy link.

@arubislander Thank you so much for bringing clarity to my suspicion on this, Arubislander. I think you're wise not to use a phone for financial use cases. I've just decided I'm no longer going to either.

To complete on the security aspect, the confinement of apps makes Ubuntu Touch also more secure in this way.
Meaning that installing a "bad" app will have a lesser impact.

The trade off at the moment is that we have an unlocked bootloader which creates security issues in case of stolen or lost device.
