@manland Cool, I wish I could contribute something more meaningful other than bug reports/complaints. I would be efficient as a toddler with coding assistance. I've just somewhat learned HTML/CSS this year (if you consider that coding) and I can do some bash scripting as well.

EDIT: Forgot to add, keep up the great work! Don't feel too discouraged. You're doing something a lot of other people (like me) wouldn't know the first thing about doing.

    • RE: Welcome to the UBports community! Introduce yourself here!

      Hi all!

My name is Anthony, I'm 34 (been told I look 24 recently) and am currently living in Kentucky, USA. I work as an IT Tech at a hospital.

Ubuntu Touch has been on my radar for awhile, I was running a OnePlus with UBports last year. I recently picked up a PinePhone community edition and hoping to contribute to development by complaining about what doesn't work.

I've noticed nearly everyone else here can do some cool stuff with complex programming or other hard next level programming stuff. So the following is a list of things I can do; ride a mountain bike really fast down a mountain/hill/trail, do a shuv it and a 180 and sometimes a heel flip on skateboard (at the age of 34 mind you), lose to my 7 yr old at Pokemon TCG, and I can lift some weights sometimes. So I'm practically useless unless you want some poorly done HTML and bash scripting. But I will complain loudly when I encounter something that doesn't work, so there's that I guess.

Anyway, I look forward to the day when UBports can be my daily driver OS and am in awe of the amazing work going on here, keep it up everyone!

@Chim I had a very good experience with the OnePlus, it was practically ready for daily use for me, until I broke the sim card reader with my stupid nano to micro sim adapter tray.

I’m obviously out of the loop here. When did calls over 4g start working? I was just sitting here at my desk messing around and I happened to get a phone call, was able to answer it, and hear the person on the other side fine and also be heard. Keep up the great work. I’m also getting more comfortable with using this as my daily phone OS.

    • RE: Ubuntu Touch Music Player won't detect my Music

I tried clearing the cache with UT Tweak to no avail. My music is on an SD card though and far as I'm aware there is an ongoing issue with the PinePhone not doing something correctly with the SD cards. Not sure what exactly it is, haven't tried digging into the terminal or SSHing into my phone to investigate further.

    • RE: Quickddit - call for testing

@wilson said in Quickddit - call for testing:

It seems to work pretty well on my Community Edition Pinephone, I haven't tested video playback yet.

I don't have a screenshot to share, but text is pretty small on the main page posts--going in to the comments for a particular post the comment font size is easily readable, but the post font size stays small. This may be more of a Pinephone issue than a Quickddit issue though, as I've noticed other apps displays to be pretty zoomed out (e.g. Axolotl) on the Pinephone.

ETA: No luck playing back a Youtube video in the app.

Had the same experience, but wanted to add this is awesome for a first release and perfectly usable for me as I read more than I watch stuff on reddit. Thanks for the great work!

    • RE: Music app UTTT prevent app suspension

@dtarrant I hope yours arrives soon! I've been having fun distro hopping on the phone. Already tried SailfishOS and PostmarketOS. After some days of use with those three UBPorts is the closest to daily driver status. SailfishOS is a very close second though.

I also wanted to add I am having the same issue with all Audio apps on my Pinephone as well. As soon as the screen powers off whatever was playing stops whether I'm using Flas or Podbird. I'm on the latest OTA in the stable channel.

EDIT: Also wanted to add that I have installed UT Tweaks and have toggled the suspend setting for both of the mentioned apps.

@kugiigi Alright, does the music player need to pointed towards the folder with files or will it just "pick them up"? Also if I close Futify do the song files persist?

    • RE: Futify (spotify client) need beta testers

Hopefully I’m not contributing to some type of an echo chamber. But I am having issues with any kind of playback. I’ll pick a playlist/album and attempt to play it seems most of songs on the playlist don’t completely download so I am unable to play them. All the tracks have a percentage of 50% next to them.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I’m on a Pinephone.
