    • RE: [Discussion] File Manager improvements
      1. Why do you think it’s important to have a File Manager on your phone? (Or why not?)
I have found scenarios where I cannot accomplish a task with the existing system and therefore need to use a file manager. For example:
      • a download needs to be relocated so the correct app can see it. Currently downloading a pdf is a good example of this. The document viewer doesn't open it if I chose that as the action for the download. Instead I must save to Downloads and later move to Documents.

      • sometimes I discover there is a problem with space and need to quickly delete some music.

      • When samba was working, I used it to access documents on the home share. It worked very nicely.

      • Which are the most important features for you?
        Bookmarks for fast navigation
Swipe up from bottom for quick access to other volumes
        Cut/Copy/Paste/Rename
        Samba

      • Which are the common tasks you try to accomplish?
Fix file locations so the correct app can see them (usually move from Downloads to ./Videos or ./Music, for example.
        Delete when space is tight.
Access samba shares to use media that wouldn't fit on the device (I have a large collection on the home server, I can copy a little at a time and delete later).

      • How the current version of File Manager fails to meet your expectations?
It's actually very good. I have no complaints, other than Samba no longer works.

    • RE: Issues with WiFi and Phone keypad on E4.5 (stable channel) [SOLVED]

@truscellino Yes, it's still happening for me. Tapping the network name again doesn't help the situation. Surprisingly, turning WiFi off and on again doesn't help either (I would have expected this to work). The only solution is to turn airplane mode on and off again or to reboot the phone.

I recently changed the channel my router uses and it had no effect on this issue. Good luck with your investigations. I have only one router and no convenient way to test others.

@lakotaubp If I update to 2FA (and still have the E4.5) I'll update this thread, thanks again πŸ™‚

@lakotaubp Thank you. I've carried out these steps but I think we are talking about two different things. I can't add a Google Account in the system settings 'Accounts' section.

Maybe when I enable 2FA (soon) the Accounts will work for Google. The UbuntuOne account added fine.

@lakotaubp yes, I'm using that latest beta of Dekko 2. No 2FA and explicitly allow "less secure apps" access. Still not working though.

@lakotaubp thank you, I've updated the title to show that I am running 16.04 stable.

    • Dialer is crashing on E4.5 with 16.04 clean install (Stable)

As soon as a call comes in, or I make a call, the screen goes black once the dialer has appeared. If I rotate the phone around the screen flickers briefly on/off very quickly (like a strobe). It doesn't stay on long enough to let me use the mailer. So I can't access speaker phone or use automated systems.

      TODO:
      Reproduce and provide logs.
      The dialer will be .cache/upstart/application-legacy-something

      /var/log/syslog

@negations No luck, unfortunately. Maybe something else is causing the issue. But I did try a reboot and I have lowered the security of my Google account. I'll raise it again before the end of the day. Thanks for sticking with me πŸ™‚
