    • Found an easy way to use Gdevelop with Ubuntu Touch to make games

I recently started experimenting with the clickable development options and found that GDevelop5 is actually really easy to integrate with Ubuntu Touch clickable packages.
Plus the mobile components that were designed to run with Android and IOS devices also seem to work with Ubuntu Touch very well.
I will be experimenting more with this and I might try to make a game this way one of these days. Using GDevelop is exciting because it adds easy cross platform app development and makes developing 2D games very trivial!

You can see the process in this video: https://youtu.be/T7IHyDd4KKs

    • RE: the definite VoLTE deadline date in the USA is now known

@totalsonic That really is too bad to see. In Canada we have 3G until 2025. I really hope that VoLTE development does not go too far beyond the cutoff date. I would like to be able to take my UT phone down south.
I concur with that if there was a way to donate directly to VoLTE on UT development that I would be more then willing to do so.

    • RE: Post your thoughts here on this tablet...

      Tablet so far is decent!

However I do have a few small gripes.
When I plug in a mouse and keyboard, the mouse is locked in portrait resolution even though the tablet or external display is landscape thus the mouse is mostly unusable as it is impossible to fine places to click.
When in landscape mode half of the screen libertine apps like firefox cannot be interacted with.
Wireless display is just about unusable and I have found much better results using the MirVNCServer.

If the mouse and libertine problems are fixed it would be a near perfect experience.

The Morph browser dropdown menu has some problems with button icons lot aligning with click locations, but its really not a problem that I think much about.

I am glad internet advanced security menus work so I can log into my uni wifi (this is still broken on the UT pixel 3a), I am also glad to see snaps working well. However with the lack of ability to use a mouse the tablet suffers and I cannot drive it like I would like to.

I like desktop mode, but I since the tablet is not functional properly with libertine apps and mouse I don't really see the point of enforcing it.

    • RE: Mint Mobile on 3a calls in and out not working

best solution I have found to the Volte problem is to get a Data Only plan since UT does support 4G data and then use Fongo to get a phone number and make calls/texts though that. (note fongo is an android app so you will need waydroid)

    • Wifi Security Options Broken on 20.04

Hello the University Wifi I use has some quirks and requires PEAP securities to login as well as inputs for a secure url and a CA certificate along side a user name and password. The system for this was in place in Ubuntu Touch 16.04 and it was possible to login fine, but since the update to 20.04 the securities panel in the UI for wifi has been missing.
Any support / workarounds any of you can think of would be greatly appreciated.

    • Wifi with advanced security options is broken in OTA-1 and devel

The security option of more advanced wifi systems does not work in 20.04 OTA-1.
The tab shows up for like 0.1 of a second and then flashes out of existence leaving only the word Security behind.
I need advanced securities for tunneling to connect to wifi. (was working on 16.04)

    • RE: 20.04 Pixel 3A

@saveurlinux Just to expand a bit on this list.

I can confirm that Wireless External Monitors on Focal do indeed work! I tested on a Mira Cast device with 0 problems, in fact I think it runs much better then xenial right now.

Similarly I can also confirm 7 day stability, this obviously ranges from device to device based on battery and other factors, but on my decently new pixel 3axl the battery will last more then a week turned on and on idle, the suspend is very effective, and I do not have to reboot the phones software just about ever. Last reboot for me was nearly two weeks ago.

    • Is there an eta on Libertine in Focal?

Updated one of my phones to UT 20.04, I have to say I am very impressed, works very well! But would very much like to know when Libertine will make its return to the settings app, its currently the only thing keeping me from updating to 20.04 on my main phone.

    • Pinephone Halium Port

I might be totally out of line by making a post like this (please correct any misunderstandings I might have). But I have been wondering about the possibility of a pinephone port using Halium. My rational being that the current pinephone UT project is not really very usable. With the success of the Halium ports on other devices I wonder about the possibility of using Halium with one of the pinephone Android projects to possibly achieve a better more stable port for pinephone then currently exists. Any thoughts on this? I am aware the GloDroid project is progressing a fair bit.
