RE: Pinephone Rant
I appreciate all the responses. Many of them were helpful to understand what's happening behind the scenes, so I appreciate the information. I should emphasize the fact that I am not a developer, but rather a consumer. I realize that it's easy to complain about something when you're not contributing to the development, but there's a reason for that. I'm 38 years old and I've never owned a smartphone in my entire life. I've never actually trusted a company to handle my private information, but when I saw the PinePhone hit the market (UBPorts edition), It was a dream come true. I honestly don't mean to take it out on the devs, because I know you're all working hard, but this was literally the first phone I've ever purchased and I can't even use it. That being said, I hope we'll get to see some progress before the years finished.

Pinephone Rant
Words cannot express how frustrating it is to have the phone of my dreams just sit on the shelf collecting dust because the operating system is virtually unusable. I realize that the UBports team is working hard and that the UBports edition was released with the assumption that it's a work in progress, but it's been a year since it was shipped out and virtually no progress has been made regarding it's development. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to see more than 50 other phones on the 'supported devices list' that are leagues ahead of the Pinephone, especially when you consider the fact that the Pinephone was made specifically to support the Linux community and it feels like it's being ignored by the developers. I don't mean to sound so rude, but how long are we expected to wait to see some progress? Judging by the work that's been done since the Pinephone's release I can't help thinking that this thing isn't going to be a daily driver for another ten years ... and I don't think that's an exaggeration.
I realize that it's difficult to develop software for so many devices, but could the team please spend some time working on the Pinephone? At the very least it would be great to see some kind of update on the progress that's being made because I watch the weekly update on YouTube and the team rarely talks about the state of the Pinephone.
I'm sure this post will upset quite a few people, but I just had to vent my thoughts on the subject.

RE: Resolution Problem!
@c0n57an71n - I appreciate the help! Any idea why this happened?

Resolution Problem!
Iβm not sure what happened, but my Pine Phone changed to a ridiculously tiny resolution during one of the last updates. I seriously donβt know what happened to it, and itβs driving me nuts. All the buttons are tiny!

RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 92 Saturday 16th January at 19:00 UTC
I was just wondering if the UBports team was willing to prioritize new devices, like the Pinphone, in regards to development. I love the fact that older devices are supported, but wouldn't it make more sense to spend more time working on newer devices that were made specifically for the purpose of supporting the Linux community?

RE: New Update Not Updating
I'm mostly posting out of frustration. I actually don't own any other smartphone, because I don't like the idea of being tracked and traced by anyone. However, I have since purchased a VPN, and the Pinephone allows me to use hardware kill switches, so it seemed like the obvious choice. I was hoping this thing would see some improvements over the last few months, but I have yet to see any of these problems resolved, or even mentioned during the UBports livestream. I've sent countless bug reports, but nothing ever seems to get fixed. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the work they're doing, but it's frustrating as hell to wait for these updates.

@C0n57an71n - True, but I do remember buying it in May, so I'm counting that!

RE: New Update Not Updating
I really want to support UBports and other Linux distros, but it's getting a bit ridiculous with the whole situation. I'm really surprised by the amount of issues still present on the PinePhone. I mean, the headphone jack doesn't even work. Am I safe to assume that this device isn't going to be my daily driver for at least a few more years?

RE: New Update Not Updating
Are you kidding me? Do you know when the Pinephone's getting an update? I've had this thing for roughly 6 months, and I have yet to use it in any serious way due to the multitude of issues. I really want to use UBports, but I'm on the verge of just giving up and installing Android.

New Update Not Updating
Is anyone else having a problem getting the new update on the Pinephone? The stable version I have installed is Version 8, but it still suffers from all the problems that it had before. Am I missing something, or are they planning to release the updates at another time?

New Update?
Has the new update released yet? I keep trying to install the new update since they said it would be released on September 16th, but nothing is happening. I'm pretty sure my phone didn't get the update, because none of the known issues have been fixed.

I realize that you guys never answer questions like this, but can you give us at least some kind of idea as to what's happening with the Pinephone? I actually make a point of tuning into your Q&A segments on YouTube, but I'm sorry to say that I don't usually learn anything relevant to my device. Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful for the work you guys are doing, and I'm very excited to see the new update coming on September 4th, but it would be great to see a little more discussion regarding specific devices.

RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 82 Is This Saturday 15th Aug At 19:00 UTC
Do you have an eta on when any of the following issues will be address (on the Pinephone)?
#1. The headphone jack is not working.
#2. The SD Card doesn't detect my music.
#3. The battery life seems to be inconsistent. Thanks for all of your hard work, it is truly appreciated!

RE: PinePhone Latest Update
@domubpkm That's me all right. I've actually never been interested in owning a smartphone until the Pinephone was announced. Now that I have one in my hands, I am very excited to use this thing as my daily phone! I'm hoping there will be more updates coming soon.

RE: PinePhone Latest Update
@kugiigi - I gave that a shot, but sadly a lot of the problems I've been having are still present. I can see that they're making a lot of great progress, so I'm excited to see where the phone's at in 6 months time.

UBports Is Off To a Good Start
I got my Pinephone in the mail about a month ago, and I've been fiddling around with UBports ever since. I have to say that I am quite impressed with the functionality of the OS so far. I'm still a little disappointed that I won't be able to use the phone as my daily driver for quite some time, but it's exciting to know that progress is being made.
