Hello this is just to let you know that it is working
I installed Waydroid on my Xiaomi mi a2 via apt after making the filesystem readable.
It worked out of the box after creating the container.
As a lot of people where asking if it was working I installed Whatsapp and connected to it successfully. It crashed a few times after connecting an account but now it seems to work fine.
I only used it 5 or 6 time as i do not have a lot of contacts on it but messaging was ok.
Waydroid itself is also crashing from time to time but it is manageable (I am also only testing ..)
The good thing is that after installing waydroid I found out I had no real need for any android app.

RE: How does GPS works on Pixel 3XL ?
@keneda I own a Mi A2 and a Pixel 3A (and also an Aquaris E4.5) running UBports and I can tell you the Pixel 3A is way more faster than the Mi A2 in every case. So I guess the device make a difference. I did a lot of comparison between both because I need to choose the one to keep as my main phone

RE: Waydroid on Xiaomi mi a2
@datum Sorry I missed your question, but I did exactly what explained by @Bogotrax and I also tried with the waydroid helper app and it just worked.
Pay attention that not all android apps are working properly. I tried snapchat and it was not starting. I am not using waydroid a lot as I found out I can do already most of what I need from UBPorts apps. I tried successfully Whatsapp and several banking apps but that is mostly it. -
RE: Waydroid on Xiaomi mi a2
@magnargj great, I also installed Aurora store. Also Waydroid helper is a must have to remove Icons and stop waydroid when it cause problems.
I agree, I keep Waydroid in case I suddenly find an android app I need -

RE: Welcome to the UBports community! Introduce yourself here!
Hello All
I am David, from France and I was using an Aquaris BQ4.5 Ubuntu edition since 2015. A few weeks ago I switch to A Xiaomi MI A2 on witch I installed UT. This is my daily driver.
I am a normal person, not a DEV and I run Linux on my personal computer since I first install Debian on my Amiga. Yes I know I am very old.
I never been to UBPorts forum as I never had any issue with My BQ, but even if the new Mi A2 is working pretty good I had to do some fixing and most of the resources where here, so here I am.
