I think, it's still needed to inproof the core-apps:
Bluetooth needs to work better with other devices. In my case: Meizu MX4 can connect to NAVIGON 70pro car-navigation, but can't make calls with it and other functions don't work.
Camera app has very low qualitiy and some settings don't work together. If I turn HDR on, then flashlight gets off, and so on.
Music app should be more comfortable and start faster. Sometimes stops playing without reason.

RE: Android apps to run in UT?
@advocatux said in Android apps to run in UT?:
@alterrnator, why do you want to use a UBports phone?
because this should be always a free choice !!!
Security & privacy are my main concerns and I do believe those are the main points to whoever is looking for a free (as in freedom) phone. As I understand, those are the goals for UBports development, and that's why I'm supporting UBports.I don't like Whatsapp. Even more, I don't want facebook's software in any of my devices. If someone wants to send me a message s/he can use Telegram, or SMS, or even email.
If you need to use Android apps, use an Android phone.
If you want security, privacy, and freedom, use UBports.
If you want something in the middle, use LineageOS.No sorry, nobody can command, what others have to use.
In my case, I just need few android apps, that never would come as UT nativ apps. I'm also not interested in Whatsapp or Facebook, but there are also some good Android apps, that I want to use with Anbox on my UT!I hope and think, this is the best way and come true.

@RudiH, as I'm understanding it this conversation can be summarised in these terms: Is it UBports a free software project or are we willing to fill it with proprietary software?
My vote is for a free software project, needless to say.
If you think only in this way... I'm sorry, I don't fellow you.

@RudiH, I'm not commanding, I'm suggesting.
I'm sorry if I sounded imperative, that was not my intention (English is not my first language).
Which are those good Android apps? Why can't we develop the UBports equivalents?
I think, everybody has his own or find his own favourite apps. Not every android app can be ported to UT, cause of copyrights and so. Think on SmartHome products. There are already so many android apps that can make use your phone nice and easy.
Nobody have to use it, if he don't like it, but me and ohters want. -

RE: Unzip app
sorry my first answer is not really correct, cause as written the prob is by download already, when it ask me to select an app to open the file. The only app to select is OpenStore no other apps as option. So that's why I get confuse to that point. In FileManager may it works to open the file. My mistake was just a other filetyp with the same name I tried to open.

RE: Unzip app
Hi and thanks,
File Manager is already installed here by default. When I try to open it in the folder, there comes up a note, that at the moment isn't an app istalled that cold handle this Typs. ??
But I have already the problem on how to download from internet, can't find an option for it in the browser at all.
I will use the terminal as suggested.
Thanks a lot.

Unzip app
I'm using Meizu MX4 with UBports already. Now I need an unzip app. Unfortunately didn't found such an app in the OpenStore and in Ubuntu Store. Where can I get an Unzip app that works on the device and how to install it beside the official way?
Need it to download and open *.zip from a website or eMail.
Thanks for reply. -
RE: Ubuntu touch on Meizu MX4
Hi hudson,
to flash your Meizu MX4 just off your phone, then press VOLUME DOWN and POWER ON as long as it starts. You see a black screen and a very small text down left side "Fastboot-Mode". Connect Phone with USB 2.0 not 3.0 to PC. Start Terminal and run Magic Device Tool. When its finish with "Exiting script. Bye.Bye" wait until the Phone is finish too. It restarts by themselve and when you can select the language and other settings yoU are ready to use the new system.
Good luck.
To me it works perfectly! Nice work from UBports
