RE: reduced battery life - something with OTA-5?
@kugiigi wow I'm buffled 5% over night with wifi (on) on the FP4...
My FP4 loses something between 15% to 20% of charge with just sim/data (on) over night.
Daily consumption with usage holds stable though,
this probaly sounds stupid but for me,
It seams my phone keeps a better battery- household when in use, rather than squatting around all night on the desk.
Sorry but in my case its not Ota5 specific, the situation already persists from the beginning.
Batter-saver has helped to correct it but not fully.
Next step is to get a new battery even if this one is just 6month old... always good to have a spare one.......5%...

RE: Annotate - app to annotate PDF files
@Plarde just saw that you mentioned already what i wrote
Looking forward to experience the changes in the feature. -
RE: Annotate - app to annotate PDF files
@Plarde Hej, first of all thanks for the great app!
Was just on the way an needed to edit out some personal details. Worked like a charm.I'd like to mention a few things I've noticed using Annotate on my FP4
First.
It seams like I'm unable to open pdf files in file-manager in Annotate. File-manager / pdf / open with (documentviewer/sturmreader) Annotate is there and does open but without the chosen pdf pre loaded. The standard way works,
Start-Annotate / browse-file-manager / choose-Pdf ...and get to work.*Second.
I missed a few times to collapse the bottom menu after choosing eraser-tool... So i deleted some lines of text in the backround hehe
Is there a revert back button? Is one planned?Nothing tragic I had to start from the the beginning
but with the original Pdf stored in file mananger.
The ones preloaded through accesing - on Anno's main Menu are already changed (or the changes have been applied) even without them being saved or exported by me! Some kind of autosave or draft feature?
*ah it imports a copy to work on, thats clever. So ye thanks a bunch @Plarde

RE: Battery saver weirdness
This issue has been solved by troubel-shooting with the dev Lional.
Fix:
Prevent app suspension in UTTT was toggled on for "Batter-saver" which caused chargin troubles and the phone keeps a better chage.
Thanks for the quick respond. -
RE: Battery saver weirdness
@lduboeuf hej, sorry je should have mentioned that. Yes it's the battersaver app from the openstore. Focal on a fairphone4.
By now I've made a fresh install and I'm running the release channel. Still its the same for me, so I just keep the app open and go on with my day.
Still thanks for the good work!
Waiting for the next grand os update so maybe a lots of small things will just solve themselves. -
RE: Telegram app
@daivdccd same here using teleports for the basic environment + notifications
And I used webber to make a telegram web app with some other permissions.
Works for my needs. -
Battery saver weirdness
Hej everyone,
I've noticed that even if battery-saver is running-state/with the app closed my battery drain and aprox charging time are very off.
So i dont close the app and my phone keeps better charge.
And when attempting to charge i close battery-saver and reopen it so my charge time goes down to 50mins instead of 13hours. (i noticed this because my phone charged just about 50% over night.I havnt tried reinstalling or any other troubleshoot since its fixed as long as i keep the battery-saver app open.

RE: Concerning the 5G situation
@Mario-CH hehe nice of course an evil mastermind would cover the whole spectrum!
I just tried to use this little story to make my point clearer. I just wanted to know, if someone wanted to completely render the 5g capabilities of the device useless if that would be possible.
I mean we are now living in a time where we are able to have alternative operating-systems running on our phones. Through that also different usage and possibillties. So it would make sense to be able to tweak certain sensors, services, cameras.I know I must sound mad!
While everyone wants things to work properly like gps, 5g, volte and what else there might be.
I'm perfectly fine without them working!Till today i have not switched on gps on my fairphone 4 . For the gps (I'm happy that there is a work-around for people to make gps work)
I've never tried it haha, so at least i have never made knowingly a gps connection. Not sure if my fp4 and the satellite went on a date behind my back or not but who knowsThe easiest fix would be to get an old phone i know...

RE: FP4 - Ear phones not working, GPS not working
@Julien-0 well i just tried it myself for the first time.
Headphones + cable +jack to usb-c into FP4
and it didnt work. Dont know if it 's a problem from your/our instalation or something that hasnt been fixed yet.
I found a post on the forum https://forums.ubports.com/post/77107 with a suggestion on how to manually adjust it. But not sure if that works in your/our case, or if one should play around with things that might affect your daily usage. Bluetooth connection to headphones seams fine, well sometimes I need to reconnect them to have all buttons recognized
but that a small issue. -
RE: Concerning the 5G situation
@stanwood haha alright lets talk sci-fi...
Lets imagine an evil scientist called Professor Ruffleberg has developed a death-ray and can target every device that responds to a 5g signal. So by me taking my fairphone with ut,
I go to settings/mobile and just stick to 2g,3g,4g...
Will i be safe from the Professor's mad mashine?
Or will he still be able to target me because my device would (even if 5g is not aktivated) ping back?Hope you had as much fun reading as i had comming up with it
-
RE: Concerning the 5G situation
@stanwood i know! Like to see an option to just keep it 5g free by permanent deaktivating.
-
RE: Concerning the 5G situation
@stanwood Thanks for your message and the insides given. My point was, to be able to have the choice to not have 5g working.
I know a lot of people want/need it...
Well i dont, and I'd love to have an option to just fully deactivate it -
Concerning the 5G situation
Hej everyone, at the moment 5G seames to be not working for most if not all. I've notice that many people do want the 5G option available, so the future progress if possible will incorporate that option.
For my self personally, I'm fine without it and would love an option to disable or purge the 5g from my device. I'm already quite happy that gps on fp4 is lets call it optional (havn't aktivated it yet, so no connection has been made)
I use this phone for privacy and health reasons.
So it be great to be able to block certain signals by just having the hardware/software disabled. -
RE: How do you use UT?
@Nymexx a game changer is an app called webber! Which allows you to create webapps (shortcuts) to webpages. Those webapps will appear together with all the other apps in the menu. They are really great to fill the gap for apps that I'm missing from android. Well as long as there is a web page available.
Example:
Bandcamp
My banking service
We transfer
A web forum
Bitchute
...
...
And many more
There is also an app called "home"
which allows you to kinda create a home screen
With a clock, calender, search bar and other little widgets. Just available on the open store accessed by browser. Because its a version for the previos UT Xenial but it works perfect.
Make sure to also install the "home weather widget“ for a weather indicator on the "home-screen"
I'd love to upload a picture to show you a possible layout...but i just dont know how -
RE: How do you use UT?
Hej great question, well i use UT on a fairphone 4 as my daily driver to browse, research download music an videos, as media device for music and video playback on my tv, as my organizer for work and my gardening hobby plant diaries and so.
So ye I'm quite happy with UT, even if the getting used to period was a bit challenging but my conversion from android and the feeling of independence are priceless.

RE: File Manager hick-ups involving music(player) and gallery
@lduboeuf hej thanks again for your input
I did indeed do a fesh install with the same outcome. Next weekend I'll do a complete fresh install + wipe user data .
There are too many iddy biddy things that dont work as they maybe should.Like...
-The shut down button needs to be held, if just
touched or let go of...the phone reboots-the media-player does not play any video files,
movies or recordings from the device camera-the media-scanner that just works and displays
thumbnails properly if i only stick to either wifi or
mobile data-when shutting down the phone it takes up to 1min
before i can turn it on againand other little hick-ups...
So far i just did fresh installs without wiping user data, do you think the above problems will be solved by doing a sort of day1 fresh install?
-
RE: File Manager hick-ups involving music(player) and gallery
I've noticed that when I'm connected to wifi and mobile data!
My gallery app shows the black loading squares
and my music app displays black squares too.So if i stick to just wifi or just mobile data, the gallery app displays my pictures properly and the music player the available album covers.
If I'm to switch on both data connections again
the problem repeats...So ye for now i just make sure to be either connected to only mobile data or only wifi.
I made a video,
posted in the fairphone-telegram-group
for anyone that is interessted to see me switching between connections and its effects on the music-app.
