  • Trying to port KDEConnect for mobile. Need some help.

    Hello, everyone.
    Last time I tried to port KDEConnect to Ubuntu-touch, I did found some codes of mobile friendly qml app for linux phones. But due to I could not found how to build it, it failed.
    But now I have found the build guide from its wiki
    Seems it just need add a cmake flag and everything will go fine.

    cmake -DSMSAPP_ENABLED=True .

    Seems it is a good news.
    However, I don't know how to type these into clickable. Obvisely we need more work than just simple type these word in.

  • RE: Ubuntu on Huawei devices?

    @dobey I don't agree with " China has an exhaustive set of regulations for smart phone interfaces, that must be met to be sold on devices." China goverment didn't not has such law or regulations of that. Maybe you mean Huawei's regulations.Yes, Huawei don't allow we unlock our phone's bootloader and flash to Ubuntu-touch. Beside, Huawei has its own mobile system according to the news.
    But, WeChat,Alipay,some school application,DingDing(a application used for discuss about work),all map apps and so much application only has IOS and Android version. Also all of them don't have a web version.(maybe maps application has one, but it didn't work very well)n They are so important for every day life that nowadays most Chinese people think if a mobile phone can not install thers apps, it is as same as a Nokia 3110. Just like a phone in your hand without Telegram, Twitter,line,facebook.
    In my opinion,LACK OF IMPORTANT APPLICATION IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM TO SPREAD UBUNTU-TOUCH IN CHINA, NOT THESE REGULATIONS.

  • RE: Is there are support for Qt dialog?

    @dobey But when I using "import QtQuick.Dialogs 1.2" in qml, the page will not load.
    Logs are:

    QQmlComponent: Component is not ready
    file:///opt/click.ubuntu.com/appname.yourname/1.0.0/qml/main.qml:61:5: QML StackView: push: file:///opt/click.ubuntu.com/appname.yourname/1.0.0/qml/Page2Form.qml:188 Type Dialog unavailable
    file:///usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/qt5/qml/QtQuick/Dialogs/DefaultDialogWrapper.qml:41 module "QtQuick.Controls" version 1.2 is not installed

    seems the QtQuick.Dialogs 1.2 not load due to QtQuick.Controls version 1.2 not installed.

  • RE: Add more modern and popular devices to offical supported list

    I apologize for all my opinion above all. For never thinking about the plant. And now I am totally agree with you all. This really teach me a lesson about how to deal with the old device and how to deal with the plant and the new technology, which would never been tought in school or these company(maybe they just want to me buy an new model)

  • RE: Add more modern and popular devices to offical supported list

    @dobey Sorry for repeating. I am trying that but stuck in compiling 😅
    But nowadays support list is really old. Some device is also too weak to support some new features (like my nexus7 doesn't have app start animation because it GPU is too weak) Maybe is time to drop some old device to newer one.

  • Add more modern and popular devices to offical supported list

    I know there is a topic for:"Will port ubuntu to device X" But imagine there is someone who are interesting in technology and what to have a teste on Ubuntu-touch on his own. He open the supported devices list, then he noticed that none of his devices are supported. Even, he can not buy one(most devices instand Fairphone2 are stopped producing) for Ubuntu-touch. And what about porting Ubuntu-touch to his phone on his own? He need a computer with Linux, knowledge on linux kernel compiling, and so much. Will he continue for just have a taste on a not stable system? I think answer is not.
    Therefore, add more modern and popular devices to offical supported list is a important job to attract more user. Also, modern devices have much powerful hardware let ubuntu-touch proform better(such as nowadays most of devices in supported devices instand Meizu pro5 can not using wireless projection)
    After that, we could post this good news to forums like XDA forum. This can make more people know and have a look on ubuntu-touch. As a result, there will be more people develop,donate and using ubuntu-touch.

  • App start animation

    As the title said. I think we should add a start animation for apps. For example the app icon push out from bottom side(Like what Android 5.0 did, maybe left is better for Ubuntu-touch as our lanuncher is there)
    Animations can make the start process more smooth and let users feel the system more faster(For not feeling the waiting time)

  • RE: Spreading Ubuntu Touch to the world

    As it talking about Government, here is also a big problem in China: Taiwan problem
    For some history reason, Taiwan and Chinese mainland still not get unified in one government.(It is a long history and it is getting more complex today, I can't put all of these here.) But both of Taiwan government and China mainland government agree that Taiwan is a part of China.(In official documents, but some Taiwan people just think Taiwan is a country)
    Also, all Chinese and Chinese mainland government CAN NOT ACCEPT someone says "Taiwan is a country" or do such action.

    And in nowadays Ubuntu-touch language&country setting, word "Taiwanese" is not acceptable by Chinese mainland government and Chinese people.In country selection, word "Taiwan" is not acceptable(It should be "Chinese Taiwan" or change word "country" into "region")

    @davidcolombo 0_1543965408379_Screenshot_20181205-071554.jpg
    But from here, it seems the app only use kirigami and "com.kde.kdeconnect" for qt quick libs.
    I think it should be easy to port it to Ubuntu-touch as if com.kde.kdeconnect compatible to ubuntu-touch

  • RE: KDE Connect for Ubuntu Touch

    I think since ubuntu-touch and plasma-mobile could share apps.It will be a easy job to port KDE Connect client to ubuntu-touch. And the sources are in kde's git system.
    I am trying to do that through I still stuck in finding where the Qt quick extension “com.kde.kdeconnect” is (A fool question isn't it)and I am just a beginner on how to develop a app to ubuntu-touch. (Maybe I should try to make some easy qml app first, anyway I really like kde connect in android)

  • RE: Send Some: UBports Installer Love (week 5)

    @CiberSheep
    It seems is much harder than I think of the porting job on halium. 😅

    But for unlock bootloader, I think if a user want to flash ubuntu-touch into their phone, they should already know these risks.
    Rather than let user searching for how to unlock it, we can give them a easy way.
    And of crouse installer should warn them before do the install job.

  • RE: Send Some: UBports Installer Love (week 5)

    Actually, today's version works really good. And how about make it stronger: let it unlock the bootloader automatically. As it is easy to make it for some phones(such as nexus7, only need "fastboot oem unlock")
    And a big idea maybe off-topic:let UBports Installer automatically port the ubuntu-touch to android devices. This is a big deal, but it is achievable for these devices have lineage or CM.

  • RE: A guide for new users

    These picture is the Meizu Flyme User help app.(It is Chinese because my main language is Chinese, I added some translation for it.)
    I think Ubuntu touch should also have a app like this.

    This picture shows a search input on the top.
    The character “新手指引,老死机带你玩转Flyme” on the top means "A guide for these are new". Click it will show some tips of Flyme.
    Blow it are some tips(also some ads, :<);
    And then is Normal question(常见问题), click will show next picture
    Some useful translation:
    搜索问题=Search question
    提交 Bug=log a bug
    功能建议=feature request
    全部专题=All topic(just a blog of flyme)
    魅友知道=Meizu's fan Q&A(someone can ask a question, and other answer this question)
    Meizu user help

    And this picture is the "Normal question"(常见问题), a Q&A by Meizu offical. It shows a list of what sort of question,such as use of communication apps (通讯), network(网络),setting(设置)
    These really help when searching for a solution of a question. Rather than put all Q&A together.
    some useful translation:
    通讯=Communication apps
    网络=Network
    设置=Settings
    桌面与主题=Desktop setting and themes
    系统程序=Core apps
    多媒体=Media
    系统工具=as same as core apps, I don't know why meizu set two instead of one.
    帐号与安全=Online account and security
    手机管家=phone Guardian
    相机与图库=camera and gallery
    电量管理=buttery manager
    实验室=some test feature in flyme

  • A guide for new users

    In my opinion, for users who have never used the Ubuntu Touch system before. It is hard to know how to use Ubuntu Touch because all operation are hidden. And It would be great to set a ‘Simple to get started’ at the first time of system start. And add some guides in 'UBports' app for some addition guides.
