    • RE: Browsers?

@applee I apologize for the short post, it might indeed come across as rude to someone quite easily.

The thing is, the Internet is quite important, and since UB doesn't have Android apps (Waydroid is really messy right now with the way it integrates to Unity) I at least need a functional web browser. The 2 days I had the browser I encountered at least 5 websites that didn't work properly, and that's a lot for just 2 days. This isn't really criticism, just my feedback, and me just looking if there is a better way.

@Emphrath Which one do you use? Firefox doesn't work, and Opera Mini has issues. On top of that, Waydroid is a bit trippy. For example, all open applications look the same in Unity's window manager thing. And if you close one, sometimes all of them close. It's rough, so not sure I can depend on it either way.

Also, Waydroid seems to be draining my battery quite fast.

    • Browsers?

Is there anything better than Morph browser? It's outdated and many websites don't work properly.

    • RE: Root shell for Anbox to modify IP routes?

@arubislander I just installed it and it works really smoothly in terms of performance

However, the big downside is how badly it integrates with Unity. I can't differentiate apps from each other when I swipe on the right side, they all look the same. And if I close them, Waydroid won't work until I reboot the phone.

I liked Anbox in that regard because it didn't emulate a whole phone, each app was on the drawer looked like its own thing. The performance was sluggish but I could at least tell apps apart.

I'd honestly prefer Anbox for this reason alone, at least until they smooth Waydroid out. Now if there was a way to fix these routes...

    • RE: Can't use ADB

@keneda It likely is a bug, I already reported it on GitHub.

    • RE: Root shell for Anbox to modify IP routes?

@keneda It is? I honestly had no idea. I thought Waydroid was just an alternative.

I'm using the Pixel 3a XL

Is there a huge difference between the two?

    • Root shell for Anbox to modify IP routes?

Anbox works reasonably well and opens my apps.

However... there is no Internet connection. I went and ran an adb shell over to the anbox container then ran the ip route command to see what the matter is and found this:

      armv7-a-neon:/ $ ip route show
192.168.250.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.250.2
      armv7-a-neon:/ $

There is no default route. I think I know enough about networking to set one up, but there are three problems:

      1. The su binary doesn't give me permission to use it. I don't think I can modify routes without root.
      2. Do I seriously need to do this during every reboot?
      3. Why is this not set up on Anbox by default?

    • RE: Can't use ADB

@mrt10001 I have the latest fastboot/adb binaries downloaded straight from Google themselves.

Switching to RNDIS fixed it, there is now an ADB device but also an MTP device. Nothing at all would happen with MTP alone.

    • Can't use ADB

I just used the UBPorts Installer on my Linux Mint 20.2 PC to install Ubuntu Touch on my Pixel 3a XL

The process went smoothly, but after enabling developer mode, I can't seem to connect to the phone with ADB because it doesn't show under devices.

Looking at my PC's kernel journal, it doesn't even see my phone. There are no related USB events when I plug it and unplug it. I think this is the problem, though I don't really know how to fix it.

By the way, Ubuntu Touch says that I run sargo, which is a Pixel 3a. I use bonito (XL version). I guess they use the same kernel, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.
