        I agree, @Ghostrider - but if it were an easy fix, I'm in no doubt whatsoever that it would have been sorted by now. πŸ˜•

          @3arn0wl I agree, these are just remarks, I am well aware that developing an os is not easy.
          I just notice that in the face of other os like lineage, some details are potentially problematic for many users, like me.
          I still use UT for the moment (cause it's a good os ☺ ), but I can't be sure of not changing to have an os closer to my few requirements, you see ?

            πŸ™‚ It's UT all the way for me. I know it's not perfect, but it's already good enough for my needs, and I know it's going to get better.

              @3arn0wl We have to be honest, I think nothing's perfect, in any existing os ! I'm an ex BB user, and BB10 wasn't perfect, like others. I don't need many games, I don't need many, many, many apps (and more again ☺ ), so UT works fine. As I said, I can use UT like a daily phone, at work too. I give my opinion because I'm think it's "essential" settings on a 2019 phone, bluetooth and accessibility.

              So, I can do everything with my debian's laptop, I want to do everything with my UT device ! (caution, I'm not really serious ☺ )

                @Ghostrider When it will be possible to get rid of libhybris/android drivers components, first with librem 5 and pinephone, may be it will be easier to fix Bluetooth issues with news linux kernel and upgrade of ubuntu version...

                  @Ghostrider thanks for your review!
                  Its being worked on bluetooth, so stay tuned.
                  Please file issues for the shortcomings regarding dark mode in the appropriate issue trackers (if there aren't already).

                    @hummlbach With pleasure !
                    Okay, I can do it, where ?

                            I've been using UT as a fulltime daily driver now for 2 months and am highly impressed. tbh, i didn't have high expectations before installing it, i figured it would be half abandoned project with lots of broken/missing functionality. So hats off to all the contributers. I do miss the silky-ness of navigating the android ui, while UT can feel a bit robotic and tedius.

                              Hi all,

                              I wanted to congratulate you all for this great work.
                              Back in the days I backed the Ub Edge, and remember playing around with some first releases of UT. I re-stepped in for real on Nexus 5 since one month as well as a daily driver (on RC channel), and it is a pleasure !

                              I'd like to be constructive though, and I'd express my feelings from a fresh incommer :

                              • You can have a good knowledge of what is the OS only once you've installed it. I mean it was difficult to find demos and description of the actual content. I could only find either those empty "commercial" descriptions on the official page, or homemade community videos on youtube... I totally understand that the priority is not on maintaining the PR side, but I guess it can make the difference for a hesitating personna willing to find alternative OS.
                              • Installation didn't work from a win10 PC. I was close to brick the thing, but made it work from the first try using a bootable ubuntu USB. I'd propose it as an alternative for windows users, rather than installing a ton of obscure adb drivers or so and end up failing at the manual install, just boot on Ubuntu, install the UBports installer and that's all folks πŸ™‚ It took me 20 minutes all in all.
                              • The convergence is awesome. I show it off to anyone has 2minutes to hear my excitation about this, and it is always a woah effect \o/
                              • The first Slimport adapter I bought didn't work for convergence. On the second try it was perfect ! I found the info for the cable type on the forum, but the comment "slimport is the key, only buy something that has slimport written on it" is valuable and would be worth being written on the FAQ and in the documentation.
                              • Random bluetooth Keyboard and mouse worked from the first run. And are recognized as a charm everytime I need them.
                              • I faced the known issue with Dekko2 draining the battery. Since then I'm using instead my usual online client on morph and does the job instead. I'll be patient for a next fix, it's not a blocker for me.
                              • Account syncings were easy, though the only friendly way I found of doing is through a google account πŸ˜‰
                              • I'm not fond of the webapps. It populates the store, so it's fine for PR, but the quality in the end is lower. I avoid them on the store (I'd like by the way to have a filter on the mobile version of the store to sort them away). I'd be more confident using Anbox instead.

                              Well all in all, I'm impressed and proud to have it working πŸ™‚

                              Congrats.

                              Special thanks for the effort given on the look and feel : all community apps are gorgeous and excellently integrated in the rest of the OS. I really appreciate the fact that user experience is put at the same level of importance than functionnalities, above all when the UT concepts meet my vision of what a mobile OS should be πŸ™‚

                              Can't wait for the next releases !!

                                As to priorities, there are probably a great many more people capable of contributing documentation - including demos and publicity - than there are capable of contributing code, so filling in some of these gaps would be a great contribution for anyone who has the time.

                                Good documentation is time consuming however. For my part, I tried to do help with improvements to install documentation last year but hit a wall in finding time for it (as well as being limited by owning only two of the supported devices).

                                There used to be a writers' group for UT on Telegram, but it's been gone since last November. @wayneoutthere is there a replacement for that group?

                                    Good to know. Could you post or PM the link to the group? The group I had was "UBports Writers" on Telegram, and that appears dead as an ex-parrot.

                                        Thank you. I don't have a whole lot more time this year than last, but I'd like to be in the loop so that I can contribute a bit when a need arises where I think I can help.

                                            So to be clear, there's a split between documentation and writers on purpose. Writers is a group for blog posts and other long-form creative content, on https://ubports.com/blog for example. Documentation is for technical documentation and infrastructure behind it.

                                            Writers is on Matrix and it's currently invite-only.
