Hi UT World!
I'm Daniel KuΕΊma from Poland (rubel not dismiss with Russian Rubel currency, is from Tibetan turtle and I wish to support UBports community as end user promotor. I'm almost 50 so quite old one with the young heart so I hope that I follow you and catch your mindfulness (what I can say about people who are doing that just a great job).
In my past of course I had experience with linux, it was always my love but you know different things and hard time of getting sometimes something to work, work for corporation, always obstacles to have linux as my main machine, finally always failed and sooner or later I had to end up on MS but it wasn't always so long again returning to my favorite but always something. I realized that the reason was that I was trying to solve problems by myself rather than to looking for the help of others I was spending lots of time of reading manuals trying to mess with the code etc.. To be a master You always needs to learn from masters unless you are genius, but learn from master is always the quickest way
Last time when looking for linux phone it was around 5y ago and I saw that is in pretty early stage of development so I've got scary just to see what is going on and I knew that this is not time for me yet.
Now I'm very happy to met You, Your goals seems transparently to my in real not just saying that because make you happy or whatever. We are very very similar I think... lets see..
I just bought one OnePlus One and Nexus 5, waiting to come and will start my new journey, just finish my crazy wind turbine work and finally have back lots of time to make something beneficial for humanity. So.. I know what is going on and know why You are here to.
I've just dive in.. will read what is here in "Your Ocean" presented for general users. When my phones comes I will start my journey, one is going to go as gift to my friend, he is artist and totally not knowing computers from technical point of view, so he will be my tester and I hope that I will be the end user outreach and link with us if get into troubles, sometimes quick link to the manual or just say "at this moment is not working" can save days or weeks messing around
So I will take few Euro for installation, I need to have some money for live, and part for every installation will go to your pocket, this is one of the deals, see how fast it will grow, I hope that this way we all can get faster mature with some stuff, like polish translations, maybe office aps or signal or something like that.. I don't really know, I just know that I wanna support UBports just because I saw You guys and see how much effort, passion and love you put into this and we don't wanna to stop it that this project will stop or fail, never...Well.. What I can say more..?
Wishing You all great job and fun and lets create Our Free World Together!

P.S. When you take a look on my FB (maybe you will check me), maybe you can be little scary of my quite wrathful form of presentation of things. Well this is kind of art more and not aggression calling for making destructive revolution. I'm buddhist and in general peaceful being, with lots of love inside so .. don't get scary please, so I see you folks and I remember me when was in this age to:) We need to do all evolution of awareness before will be to late... -
@rubel
Hi rubel, welcome.
Here there is no gender, age, color or religion that matters we're all ones and zerosGood choices for the phones you order their well supported.
To begin your journey, there's a telegram channel for new comers to help people install Ubuntu Touch on their device. And you might find interesting content on the link I posted just on top of your post.

I'm kind of "bad ass" not give up so easily, if something can be done I will do it, if first not myself then for sure with Your support Always... unless no support.. then after some weeks sitting at the black screen I can give up hehe..
Regards
And thanks to be in home again... uff.. -
I find it somewhat fascinating to read about the different people in this community, so I guess I'll contribute to adding myself to the list.
I'm a Scandinavian in my mid 20s who started using Linux when Mark Shuttleworth was kind enough to ship me one of those amazing live CDs back 2007. I've been using Ubuntu ever since (beginning with Gutsy Gibbon), with only minor distro hopping now and then.
Despite having used Linux as my daily driver for half my life (starting at year zero!) I am not at all a technical user - I'm a part of the silent minority that will sometimes report bugs or donate, but from day to day I'm occupied with studies. Currently doing a PhD in political science. I am however quite comfortable with R and some statistical analysis, so reach out if there should be any demand for that.
I've been following Ubuntu Touch since it was announced, but none of my old phones have been left in a working condition to play around with it before now. Will try to get it up and running on my old (semi broken) Nexus 6P as soon as I get it back from a friend, and hopefully transition into using it as a daily driver as soon as possible.
Ten years ago I was quite enthusiastic about Android. I'm not sure whether I grew cynical or Google grew evil. Possibly both. I'm also sick of short life cycles, and my next purchase when I have to will probably be a Fairphone.
Most of all I'm probably here as a consequence of the ongoing pandemic - being locked in an apartment in a foreign country for months has given me time to rediscover interests from my teenage years, from Linux to Animal Crossing. This certainly has a similar feeling to it as when I got that CD more than a decade ago.
Truly impressed by the work you're all putting into this, and am more excited about Ubuntu Touch now than I was when I still thought the Edge might happen. I also think you've got a really nice little community going on here. Excellent work!

Hi!
I'm Alex.
Android dev by trade. I've played around with ubuntu touch before but never for long. I'm looking into it again recently because I have always found it interesting. Been learning about QML which has been new to me as I have never used it before. Coming from an Android background I have never had to develop C/C++ in anger, so being able to combine it with python made things easier.
I'll have a look around and see if I can find some way to be useful
Regards

Hello Community !
My Name is Achim Berg, iΒ΄m 33 years old and living in Germany.
I recently fell over UT and now i think i want to be a part of it.My first(and last) Ubuntu Phone was the BQ Aquaris 4.5. I bought it to see what can be possible and it was interesting seeing something different than Android and Apple.
IΒ΄m changing my lifestyle and i want to learn new things. One of my personal Golas this year is a Programming Language.
I thought about Python, can somebody tell me if i can use Python as a Programming language on the UT device?
For Apps or something like that?I have read something about Unity8, is that the normal Language for UT?
Sorry for that Question, i just want to bring me in somehow, maybe i can help with German Translation?I have a few Experiences in Java programming, cause of my Education as IT Specialist Systemintegration.
I hope for your Support and i wish all of you a happy weekend and good health !
See you all !
Probably my BQ Aquaris 4.5 Ubuntu is a bit weak for further Upgrades, is the OTA-10 the newest Version of UT?
Anyone got a advice, which Phone on the Devices list is a good one where i can tinker a bit? -
Hi all!
My name is Anthony, I'm 34 (been told I look 24 recently) and am currently living in Kentucky, USA. I work as an IT Tech at a hospital.
Ubuntu Touch has been on my radar for awhile, I was running a OnePlus with UBports last year. I recently picked up a PinePhone community edition and hoping to contribute to development by complaining about what doesn't work.
I've noticed nearly everyone else here can do some cool stuff with complex programming or other hard next level programming stuff. So the following is a list of things I can do; ride a mountain bike really fast down a mountain/hill/trail, do a shuv it and a 180 and sometimes a heel flip on skateboard (at the age of 34 mind you), lose to my 7 yr old at Pokemon TCG, and I can lift some weights sometimes. So I'm practically useless unless you want some poorly done HTML and bash scripting. But I will complain loudly when I encounter something that doesn't work, so there's that I guess.
Anyway, I look forward to the day when UBports can be my daily driver OS and am in awe of the amazing work going on here, keep it up everyone!

@Chim I had a very good experience with the OnePlus, it was practically ready for daily use for me, until I broke the sim card reader with my stupid nano to micro sim adapter tray.
