Halium 7.1 Test Channel
-
Hello,
some of you may have noticed that there is a halium-devel channel available on the Oneplus One (currently the only device with that). The channel is for testing the upgrade of the Oneplus One to Halium 7.1, which will bring hopefully a few improvements, also for camera.
Note that the camera is now initially not working in the new channel, but this will be investigated and fixed soon.Camera works now!Now that we are ironing out the last bugs for that channel it is time for testing it. Simply go to your updates page in system settings, switch to that channel with the upper right gear icon, go back to the initial updates page, and the update should start downloading.
If you get stuck with switching channels, please also report here and use the UBports Installer with the bootstrap option to restore your preferred channel. Note that switching back to the old channel needed a change that might be live not earlier than tomorrow morning GMT.
It is recommended to do this in WiFi only, since its a huge update (500MB approx) and will drain your mobile data otherwise.
If you want to go back, simply do the same procedure and select any other channel of your choice. Please report back any findings here. Thanks!

@flohack OP 1 now on halium devel, install went ok with the installer after a quick look around all seems OK except as you say for camera. Will try sim later on.
-
@lakotaubp I would think switching channel on the device itself would be a better test since that's how it'll be deployed to most
I don't have an OPO though i'm waiting for something similar for Nexus 5. Just a suggestion -
@kugiigi It had a stuck update on it so took the easy route proves the installer works OK though.

Hello,
A bit of a silly question but is this considered daily driver ready or approximately so? My OPO is my daily but I'm happy to test at long as basic functions work reliably (calls, text and alarm).
Thanks.
Edit: I've just seen the Q&A so that answers my question

@lakotaubp Camera switched to AAL, should help that problem, please try again tomorrow evening or so... When there is a new update
-
I've just switched to this channel, now I get no camera at all, everything else seems fine to me.
-
@moem Camera might be later today see Flohacks post above yours.. Just for others info have just gone back to normal devel and then halium-devel all from system settings all looks OK
-
@lakotaubp said in Halium 7.1 Test Channel:
Camera might be later today see Flohacks post above yours..
Thank you, I saw that. I'm not complaining, just reporting.

New update is on the way, it was unfortunate that the automatic build is early on the afternoon but th channel update was before the system image update. So I triggered it manually now ^^
-
@flohack Just loaded update (69) and camera is working. Thanks all.

YESSS
It's working! I have zoom, autofocus and flash! This is the last thing that was missing for me to be able to say that the phone is fully functional under UT!Excuse me while I dance the happy dance...
-
Tagger app is also working now! Great! Thanks very much!
-
@moem Well now Moem. I never expected you to look like that. And you can dance too. <g>

@cliffcoggin The more you know!

So I finally have a day off work and installed devel-halium. Great work!!
First issue I have is:
- Opening a new tab by swiping up from bottom edge (directly from the middle) in morph browser is difficult/impossible/unresponsive, almost as if there is a dead zone. If you swipe up from either side of the middle, the action works as normal.
OK, it seems this is happening in all apps in which there is a bottom edge tab.
Tested in Phone app and messages app. I don't recall this being an issue on the normal RC channel.Edit: Also happening if you pull down the indicator bar, middle zone unresponsive, to the left or right of middle zone and it works.
-
Updates:
- Dead zone has been fixed right now, should be in tomorrows build (Was a missing commit from 5.1)
- Anbox binder has been added

@flohack
I had the same issue on MX4, fixed in OTA16, don't know if it was intended or not, but i hope it'll stay like this in next OTA -
@Flohack Having seen a happy penguin dancing, I didn't know that the forum supported gif format! Is it recent?
Let's hope this function for the app Gallery. -
@domubpkm No idea what the forum can do xD
