In regards to the core Notes app maintained by UBports - given that Evernote is a proprietary and commercial product, and that it's free version is fairly limited to how many synced devices are allowed with it - it seems to be within the spirit of Ubuntu Touch it would make sense to expand the options for what notes syncing services can be used with the included Notes app to one that is truly FOSS.

There is already JotIt - a great working notes app in the Open Store that can sync to NextCloud - perhaps some of its code for syncing to NextCloud could be ported to the Notes app included with the UT OS?

Obviously a request like this is one that is one that is best answered by a community developer jumping into the task on their own volition, but just wanted to put the idea into the pipeline (as I unfortunately am not capable of contributing a PR like this myself).

          Best regards,
          Steve Berson

In the Ubuntu 20.04 based release, is bluetooth expected to work more reliably? Is it on a priority list at all?
(No offence or complains, just curious)

As being sad the transition to 20.04 will make a shift in some components name, like Ubuntu.Components becoming lomiri.Components. This means that we will stick with lomiri.components, to keep with the design style OR in the future QQC2 will be the default? At the moment if an app developer needs a SpinBox Ubuntu.Components can't provide it, and the QQC2 does it, but the style does not fit the style.

              Thank you all πŸ™‚

What are your latest thoughts on moving away from Clicks as the package format to something more standardized and maybe cross-platform?

I know flatpack was discussed, but it seems complex to include and maybe not the best choice.

I recently looked into Appimages and with something like this: https://github.com/AppImage/AppImageUpdate it is actually a really nice way of packaging and updating apps.

So any thoughts on this? (I am aware that replacing Clicks is not an immediate plan).

                Fairphone 5 (waiting for port)

Did you ever consider adding a functionality to the "swipe from the bottom up" gesture on UT, like for example split screen possibility or something of sorts?
I know this wouldn't be a priority right now, just courious
Keep up the good work πŸ™‚

@isthisavailable The swipe from bottom to up gesture is reserved for applications to implement whatever functionality fits with their usage. Lomiri purposefully does not have any implementation for it so as to not cause conflicts by stealing the gesture and keeping it from reaching the application that is currently in the foreground.

@isthisavailable I'd really like to see the bottom-swipe action split, with a short swipe meaning "back" and a long swipe providing the current action. A dedicated back button is what I miss most from Android.
I don't think there's currently a way to send 'back events' to apps, so that would have to be added, of course.

IIRC this question has already been answered in the past.

A back button is not relevant for the system because it would limit/impose this feature for app developers.
Not all apps need a back button, many of them don't have one and don't need it.
A back feature is only relevant at app level.

That's it for this Off Topic. Dalton will decide whether to clarify things during Q&A or not.
Please, further discussion about this topic should be done in another thread.
Thanks for understanding and helping the Q&A team sort through this thread.

@applee The point is, it wouldn't be a button - but a gesture, which the app could interpret as "back" when it made sense. In other words, a shortcut to the visible back button typically at the top left of the screen (which I find very awkward to reach). But I'll leave it here, or start a new thread in the Design forum.

@goozai Please can we leave this now. As @AppLee already said and explained this has been discussed on other q&as, but lets see what comes up in this Q&A rather than turn this request for Q&A questions thread into chat thread. Thanks

@goozai it is an interesting thought - we won't have a 'universal back' ever i'm afraid - but discussions in the ux/design telegram seems to suggest that for apps that use the ut toolkit it may be possible able to alter the existing header/button - this of course would have to be changed in the toolkit, or simply implemented in a app first then adopted by other apps - the bottom gesture is app specific so not used at a system level.

tldr: start by making a app that has this gesture

@opaijavai there is a qqc2 suru style, does the spinbox need to be themed, are you specifying suru for your style?

@Flohack is really porting the Shift 6mq???

That's huge! - at least for me. I look for a successor of my Xperia X (with SFOS) for about a year. Vollaphone, Opo6, FP 3+, Xperia 10 ii but none them really convinced me to retire my Xx.

I never have thought about spending 800 € for phone. For this one I would.
