This is not the user perspective, but rather the developer/coder/IT-person perspective. Personally, Github scares me away, I think it is counter intuitive and clearly made by and for coders and developers. I've thought about how handy it could be many times, but every time I'm in there I'm filled with a sense of frustration and feel alienated. Even though this may be hard to relate to among those that are daily github users, I think many "lay-men" are in the same boat as myself.

Dito here. If there would be central place to address the issues found by simply describing it my guess is more and more people will be eager to report them who would otherwise just wait for that issue to be picked up by someone who's already on Git and that is likely to be a coder/developer, not the potential user who wants to divert from Android or Apple.

Yeah, GitHub can be scary for first-time users.

I'm not opposed to a "Send Feedback" option in the operating system. I've built feedback and ticketing systems for non-developers before. I'm concerned with who would manage the sent feedback. People will send everything from new device requests to problems with apps to how angry their mother was on their call that day. We'll need people who are willing to be level 1 support technicians. Someone like that is exceptionally rare in a volunteer community.

I've monitored the front-line email that was on the UBports contact page before. It is soul-crushing work. There are so many "you all are dumb because you don't support GoomiPhone Four Thousand and Three" messages. I understand why people email like that. I don't wish reading it on anyone. Therefore, we would probably need to hire a support team for such a system.

Before you ask, "is that really necessary? How much feedback are you expecting?" I can assure you that it is necessary.

So I'm not opposed, but it needs a lot more planning.

In the meantime, I think that users can make an effort to go to gitlab/github (sorry it has to be both).
But to ease the pain of people feeling lost with the tools, I might endeavor into making a tutorial of how to post an issue or a feature request.
Maybe not very soon, as I have a lot on my plate, but surely that's something I'm willing to do if it can help releasing the pressure on this topic.

How about an app for bugreporting? It could save your github/gitlsb credentials and automatically file the bug via REST API or whatever. Sorry I`m no experienced web programmer, but the threshold would be lower for people to file bugs. Especially since the UT version. Phone type, etc could be read by the app.
Anything except brick bug or Wifi. + mobile data failure could be reported this way.

@homer That should be relatively easy, depending on the features of the app. I might put it on my todo list (it's a bit long though, I still need a few apps to properly daily-drive my UBT device).

Actually that was one of the things that I expected to find in the OS for some time now so if it can be done : Please do it! πŸ™‚

OTA-20 arrived and installed today. Thanks to all concerned with composing it. Nice to be able to irritate others with a custom notification sound now.

                    About the application.
I think you can fill the Git with repeated issues.
This should be taken into account. And implement something so that it does not happen.

@bolly Yeah, mandatory "here is a list of issues that seem similar" before you are able to post.

@geoeducativa I see you have created a new thread for this question. That is good. So I will remove the above post as it is off topic.
