        @emphrath How long is long-ish?

        I have tested with videos of 4+ mins. And I replay on the phone.

          @arubislander OK, I made a 30 min long video (takes 30 mins to make one, lol). Just the sound plays, no video image. This is playing it back on the phone.

          EDIT. I played all of the file. It looks like the audio and video is so much out of sync that the audio starts playing long before the video starts. About halfway through the reported length of the media file the video shows up. This seems to be an issue of the audio and video being severely out of sync.

            I tested this as well as follows (record and play on the Pixel 3a phone):
            OTA 23: Short videos seem to work fine, Longer >1 minute do not play correctly (mostly black screen)
            Switched to devel (1005): "Long" video recorded previously does not play (did not expect that it does, but tested anyway), a new 1.5 minute long video was correctly played on the phone after recording (video + audio).

            I'm currently recording a longer one to see how this turns out πŸ™‚
            Edit: 50 minute long video is also fine.

              On dev 1007, things look much better ! Sound is still lagging behind, but the whole (30 secs) video plays. Good stuff

                As of dev 1017, sound and video are completely off. Sound plays in the black for seconds before anything happens. Just doing the reporting here ^^

                  @emphrath It has been this way for me all along. I think it is the luck of the draw on rebooting.

                    GREAT NEWS EVERYONE !! As of dev 1022, sound and video are synchronized, and videos that are more than a minute long will actually play ! If you people can confirm this, I'll consider this topic solved !

                          As of today dev-1026, a video over 2mn just doesn't play. So, topic not solved.

                            @emphrath I suspect that this the working / not working behavior has more to do with reboots than with specific updates.

                                Two things:

                                • I found the reason for one particular A/V desync problem I could reproduce, and have proposed an MR: https://github.com/Halium/hybris-patches/pull/58

                                • I'm tweaking the job to clean up old GStreamer caches earlier now, which hopefully results in proper recordability and playback ability after reboots.

                                  @fredldotme In case anyone still has important videos recorded with Pixel 3A + OTA23 (as I did), kept in case some solution to repair them is found, my script that fixes those videos is here:
