Ubuntu Touch Q&A 123 call for questions
-
Hi @Josele13,
Well, in my first post (on the Q&A) I actually only asked one question. And I tried to explain why this seems important to me. In doing so, I held out the prospect of a bonus in the form of a further donation.
Therefore I saw myself in the situation of an insinuation.It should also be borne in mind that the English language is desired in the forum, and many in the community have a different mother tongue. The moderators should actually take misunderstandings into account, especially with sensitive topics.
I must admit that I could not write that the specific function I wanted would be worth a bonus donation.
Greetings Mario

Hi @arubislander ,
Sorry, I am faced with another insinuation.
My first post was only about the status request for the things with the Bluez Stack, because I'm interested. With the details of my reasons for a functioning Bluetooth. I have already donated a higher amount after the successful installation of UT in 2020.
Unfortunately, I can't afford to choose among my various donations for "open source projects" which I don't want to use. So it has to have a benefit for me, and I don't find that reprehensible.In my profession (assembler for machine mechanic, CNC), you can't avoid planning the work accurately and setting milestones, because different professions are involved (manufacturing and assembling machine components, electrical engineering, programming the operating control and others). So we need a plan, which can also be rough at the beginning. We can't just start and then realise - Oh, that has an impact on other things.
That is, from my point of view, the reason why I am making a status request, because I am interested in where we are now after the increase to Focal Fossa 20.04.@arubislander said in Ubuntu Touch Q&A 123 call for questions:
But what you, in effect, are demanding is gratitude for the mere expression of intent to donate.
You are insinuating that I demand gratitude. This must be a misunderstanding, because I just wanted to explain to you that it makes no sense to judge why someone donates, if you accept the donation, you say thank you in our country.
Greetings Mario

I started by acknowledging that you might have meant it in jest, but that the sentiment was worth addressing nonetheless.
Neither did I insinuate that you did not donate anything in the past or would not in the future.But yes, let us call it all a misunderstanding due to the language barrier and leave it at that then.

@Mario-CH ok I understand you, here there are people from many countries and we can not speak in all languages, I speak Spanish and although I know English (medium) I use the translator a lot, sometimes you want to put words that the translator can change,

@UBportsNews I was wondering what the path/procedure is for ports to end up on the UBports installer ie the PinePhone/PineTab2 focal port? Cheers
-
@Keneda For the F4, I can't believe it now that the F5 is out. A big announcement with the F5 and UT (secret work) would have been extraordinary but that falls under Santa Claus
-
I would like to hear a little about some roadmap (ETA of migration to ubuntu 22.04 LTS). What is ETA of OTA-3. If will be translations finally updated in OTA-3. I would like to hear more how clickable works (I am missing some details, which I haven't found in documentation).

@UBportsNews
is there gonna be fairphone5 support with all of their technical features like 5G and so? -
@DenMoore
Ubports installer is only for android devices, using "ADB" link.Installing on a Pine device and alike ("mainline devices") is not the same way.

@DenMoore Latest updates here https://forums.ubports.com/topic/9221/ubuntu-touch-on-pine64

@Keneda I see, that makes sense. Thank you for the answer.
-
@Lakotaubp Thank you for the link, Cheers

A couple of Q&As ago, Florian talked about a possible collaboration with SHIFT. Any news on that? (I know I'm not allowed to ask about specific devices but that shouldn't stop you from talking about the SHIFT6mq in particular, if you feel like it. )

@UBportsNews Where do we stand om the VoLTE timeline

@jmlich your questions seem more appropriate to several dedicated forum posts than for a general Q&A livestream.

@arubislander
You're right.
I splitted his message in a new thread in the appropriate subforum. -

Hi, thank you for all the contributions !
My questions:- Will gallery app have some photo edit features more than crop like photo filters as a built-in feature? Or you think using third app such as InstantPho is enough for now? I guess there are others features that gallery or photo apps could have built-in ? (qrcode, filters, but also: add texts / emoji / stickers to a photo, etc). I love the way contenthub allow to add many features almost like it was native, but for basics features that some people use daily, it would help the UX to have some of those features just built-in. I'm quite splitted about this question, where is the border? what are your thoughts ?
- Already asked this question years ago, just wanted to know about it but nowdays: Are apps package format will keep being click for now, or is there actually a roadmap to snap (Note, i've seen this initiative: https://open-store.io/app/snapz0r.fredldotme )
- Talking about snap, is there a discussion about going from Ubuntu LTS to LTS, to Ubuntu Core ? Might require a lot a base work, and pipelines, but would reduce effort on system upgrades i guess, or not ? any thought to share with us? Would it be easier to maintain specific hardware package with "gadget" or kernel snaps, or same but different ?
- Is there a roadmap for new app permissions ? For example: I guess this one would make sens for app that require fullscreen and many in-app controls (such as games) : app could call to switch themselves to an "immersive desktop" mode where right & left swipe are disabled during the use of the app? It could be also user enable/disable-able from an indicator i guess (We can see this initiative: https://open-store.io/app/indicator-immersive.kugiigi ), and also the apps permission to switch itself the mode could be removed from a setting permissions list (just like notifications for eg). This is an exemple, but maybe you have others in minds ? tell us please !
- You said no porting question, so I won't ask when fairphone5 will be listed in the Ubports Installer
Once again, thank you to all the contributors, the ones from the beginning to the newest ones, from porting to new devices, to contributing to coreapp, lomiri (etc), or third apps, translating, qa, moderation and all the others

i am asking because with the loong time nothing heared in Q&A and (i feel) slow process in 20.04 (my oneplus 6 is nearly unusable) i felt like UT is kind of dead?
It is not, but I know it feels like it is. Everyone has other things to do in life, and of course what life's curve balls that come your way (I have had a massive one last year).
A lot goes on on Telegram, which I am no fan of (Telegram that is - social media avoidance). A lot of the conversation goes above my head as I am not a developer or programmer. It is better though for quick responses.
My question is:
With Google implementing anti-rollback features in its Android future, how badly will this affect open source development, especially Ubuntu Touch in the future?

Please clarify in plain language. Not everyone is supposed to understand.
