@Spymaker It wasn't on the installer when I first noticed and tried the port.

It was a fair amount of trial and error before I narrowed the installation down and got clarity with the installation. It it involved patience and resilience, and starting from scratch (recovered using the Lenovo Recovery tool quite a few times).

If you try the manual method, images are available on gitlab as you have pointed to. I would now use the installer as it is quicker and easier, works all the time (for me).

@MrT10001 You have mentioned: "The porter is aware of the screen touch waking up the device. He provided a boot image which I tested and it stopped the issue."

Regarding “It it involved patience and resilience, and starting from scratch (recovered using the Lenovo Recovery tool quite a few times).” Please believe me, I have patience :face_with_tongue: I’ve started from scratch maybe 20 times, but from the first attempt, I have had this “shutting down and restarting takes 5 minutes” problem.

An important thing to note: when I installed image r73, the tablet did not stay in “Desktop mode” after a restart.

I am finding it difficult to get support and share my experience. Here, at least, someone replies and you can track messages. Telegram is nonsense: you send a message, and after a short time, tens of messages come on top, and nobody cares about what you have posted. Telegram is good for announcing that a war has started, but not for different support questions.

@Spymaker Quite a few devices suffer shut down issues. What I work round is to boot to Fasboot mode or Recovery with power and volume buttons, then shut down from there.

@MrT10001 long press of Power button will work also, but just very annoying bug. My every day work is related to QC, so I like things to work 100% :face_with_monocle:

What more is headache: why I have this problem on my TB-X306F and other users do not have?!

@Spymaker I saw similar with the tb-x605f. Some installs went well, some just didn't throwing up issues such as battery not showing correct charge etc.. I think there may be slight revision differences between the same device family.

Regarding Morph: as discussed on telegram this affects other devices also, so I have created "Issue": https://gitlab.com/ubports/development/core/morph-browser/-/issues/574

I still want to go back to the question: Why does the tablet start in desktop mode by default? Why can't the user save their preferred mode? Any Idea?

                      Because it requires work.

This is a tablet and the size of the screen is better exploited in desktop mode, so that's the default.
Customization requires a lot of work and testing, so that's not something that is a priority, features and bug fixes as well as keeping the system up-to-date are top priorities.

But if that's something important to you, contributions are welcome and if a new feature is proposed, it will be reviewed and merged.

@AppLee I understand your idea, but I think this is a matter of opinion. For me, the M10 screen is very small to use in desktop mode. For example, I use my main PC for work with two 43-inch 4K monitors, and if I had the space, I would add one more.
What I want to say is that there is nothing wrong with using the M10 in either desktop or mobile mode, and there's nothing wrong with having desktop mode on a fresh install. The problem is that the user can't keep their preferred settings, unlike other settings:

The desktop/mobile mode setting does not persist across reboots. After a reboot or cold start, the tablet always starts in desktop mode, regardless of what the user has set.

We had a conversation yesterday on Telegram, where one of the admins, also one contributor, and all agreed that this is wrong. I was asked to report this as a bug.

The customization question, in my opinion, is completely irrelevant since mobile mode is already available. As I mentioned, the problem is the user can’t keep their preferred mode.

If it's a matter of opinion, then the one that matters is the opinion from the person who set the default to desktop.

For bug report, you'll have to go to gitlab and report it to the proper project.
I don't know if this is handled by the porter or if it's part of the OS.

                          I answered to this question:

And I explained the reasons why.
Work needs to be done by a volunteer, so if no one is interested in doing this job it will be up to you.
As a contributor seems to find this is an issue maybe they'll be able to put in the time effort to make it happen, so that's great.

P.S. The answer we found yesterday to my primary question: it's a bug.

Users and contributors have been confused about this up to now:
Most users, when asked why the tablet boots in desktop mode, are referring to why the tablet boots in desktop mode after a reboot or cold start.
Contributors thought users were asking why the tablet boots in desktop mode the first time after the OS is installed.

@Lumpology Hi there, mouse stuck in portrait mode is a Lomiri issue.
Reguarding wireless display, i dont see any issue it works as it should. and yes i tested keyboard and mouse connected on hub on type-c and works just fine.
Morph-browser menu not alligned with icons is also not a device specific issue.

@Dmytro The tablet on this thread has to be the 4Gb/64Gb model which is the TB-X306F model.

The 3Gb/32Gb model that Ubuntu Touch can be installed on from the installer is the TB-X605F or TB-X605L - see that model section.

These are the only two tablets at this stage supported by the UT installer for Focal version of UT.

@Dmytro The only ones I have seen are the 2Gb/32Gb and the 4Gb/64Gb. It has to be on Android 11 for it to work.

If you have the 3Gb/32Gb version on Android 11 it may or may not work.

Me personally would give it a go, however I know how to get Android back on the device and recover hard/soft bricks. If you don't, I would not attempt it.

For info here is the upgrade matrix and shows your device (3G = 3Gb):

I also owned the 4GB/64GB version of the tablet. The installation was really easy and Ubuntu Touch runs quite well. I also installed dotnet and snap, but I couldn't use a mouse so far, so I couldn't use snap applications in a functional way. But the combination dotnet - SeaBass2 works quite well and I can develop C# applications on the Lenovo Tab M10 which is awesome.
There are also some small display issues in Morph and Sapot Browser (some fonts in the GUI are too big) but apart from that, this is a really nice Ubuntu Touch device. It complements my Google Pixel 3a 🙂
                                              Thanks for the hard work!
