        Hej everyone,
I'm vulpex running ubuntu touch focal dev since 2weeks on a fairphone 4.
Not new to Linux, I've been playing around with different distributions on different laptops over the last 10+ years.
        (favorite because its convenient "mint")
(and because they teached me a lot "crunchbang/bunsenlabs)

I'm really excited about ut I ran with android for far too long and so far I'm happy about how functional most of my attempts are, to just use my fp4 with this operating system daily.
I'd like to help, i know I'm not a coder or dev!
But I'm a user, with that little bit extra understanding and a ton of ideas.
And I changed os for a reason, so my ideas are more privacy and comfort/user related.
Non of the social apps and other shenanigans (Netflix or spotify)....

More interested in a good music player (love the ut one, great sound even without eq or other presets. Just missing some functions like being able to scroll alphabetically like in the phonebook,
        Song edit, amm).
File sharing and clients like soulseek and qbittorrent...
A stable webbrowser with all the little nibbles that one could ask for (Firefox or clones, iceweasel )
        And ui suggestions

So thanks to everyone contributing, scribbling, coding, fiddling around and of course asking questions. I believe as a community we can make these phones smart again!

        Running UT on FairPhone4
        And loving it

                Hi,
my name is Daniel and I'm a software developer from germany. At first - sorry for the long delay! I never introduced myself here although I'm a Ubuntu Touch user since march 2022. So I want to do this now.
At home, I'm using Linux Mint since july 2021, after windows update meant that my Notebook (an MSI with I7 processor) is not compatible to windows 11 😄 So I switched to Linux. Since then, I have realized how important privacy and security are. I also enjoy the freedom to configure and use my system the way I think is best.
In 2022, I came from android and I needed a new smartphone. But I did not want to use android again, I wanted to use a linux-based system instead with an open eco system to develop apps and with convergence. So I tried Ubuntu Touch on my Google Pixel 3a and I never regret it! This is my daily driver and I am very happy to use a system that feels very comfortable, has a simple user interface and is not dependent from Google or Apple. It feels good that uNav does not track where you are 😄
I also developed Touch IDE, a touch-friendly development environment. I know, the last update was 2023, but I'm going to continue this project. I have some ideas, I only need more time 😉 But it will go on.
So, thanks for all the hard work. I can't support at core development, but I am a very happy Ubuntu Touch user that can develop several apps and maybe give some ideas and help on several questions.

@lduboeuf Thanks for the hint, I will test that.
-- I think, this is not a replacement for Touch IDE. But it looks promising!

I'm very interested in ubuntu touch, and I've been looking at ubuntu touch since 2017.

In 2017, I tried to port ubuntu touch to the Mi 4 and was very happy when Ubuntu touch launched successfully on the Mi 4.

Last year I tried switching the Meizu pro5 port to use halium7. It was not finished due to too little spare time.

Recently I was trying to upgrade Mi 6 port to Ubuntu touch 20.04. And I have been following up the Chinese translation work of docs.ubports.com recently.

                              Hi
                              Ole-Martin here.

Just got my BQ 10 FHD working again.
                              I got a bad battery, I think.
It was set up with UBports, but I think I might set it up from scratch again.

Anybody got a link to the Ubuntu edition??

                              Thax in advance

                                      Hello UT users.

                                      I would like introduce myself.

My name is Salah, Syrian nationality living in UAE.

I am using Linux OS (Ubuntu mate) from 2016 till today and proud to have this bless.

I own Iphone x device for daily use, along side with NOKIA N900 form 2010 till day and still using it when traveling for call and text.

NOKIA N900 was the main reason to being introduced to Linux World. With best OS ever made by NOKIA.

Hope UT will have some ideas from it.

Recently (2 Months) I've purchased Google Pixel 3a XL to indulge myself with UT experience, which is great.

I hope in 24.04 version will have more control on the device and more access to system files for modifications and bunch of stuffs 👍 👍 👍 .

Former DBA and consulting IT project manager getting involved with Ubuntu Touch. Current platform is a Google Pixel 3a XL with U.S. AT&T prepaid service. I can only send/receive texts and browse right now...until I figure out how to perform the VoLTE updat.

Looking forward to helping. Not a great developer when it comes to software, but would like to try my hand at/learn about controlling hardware at the device level and can see myself helping with managing ports.

                                              Hi again @JDee-Intl

This gives context to my previous answer.
In order for you to attempt helping out the porter of your device, you'll need to set a development environment and be able to build an image from sources.
For this I highly recommend to check the porting documentation out:
                                              https://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/porting/introduction/index.html

This way you'll better understand how it works and what is involved in this issue.
