@mschmids Better try cinny-ut from OpenStore, which is a much newer version.

Oh, sorry, just saw that you are still on xenial. There is no xenial version of cinny-ut and there will not be one (at least not done by me).

Thank you @danfro for taking your time. I tend to believe, that I did install the Cinny version 2.1.3, which was working perfectly fine until a couple of days ago, from the open store beginning this year, when this thread was started.

              Hi @mschmids

As @Moem said, this is not the best place to talk about this.
But Signal is updating from time to time and the bridge as well ; that would explain the change you noticed.
Xenial is not supported anymore, the app you're using as well, and your device as well so unless you manage to update, similar things will continue happening like we notice with Morph browser.
We try to keep legacy as long as possible, but it depends on people and their personal investment in time.
              Sadly you're on your own.

@AppLee Sadly this is true. Cinny 4.7.0, 4.7.1 and 4.8.0 have been released. But they bumped matrix sdk, which makes the app only throw an error (as web app in morph the same). I didn't find a way yet to make it work with our Webengine (I tried with every release). I will try our dev group when I find time, but in worst case we will need to wait for a newer browser until we can have more cinny updates.

@danfro thank you for all the effort. So no Cinny e.g. Signal with Focal either for the time being? Element web app, which I am using on the desktop, is also not an option with Morph.

@mschmids I think this just means no new updates for now. UT Cinny continues to work wonderfully for me in Focal.

@wally Correct, Cinny does work on focal very well. But right now, we will not have newer Cinny features.

If I find some time, I will try to do some UT-only bug fixes. And I will keep trying to look into making the newer version to work on UT.

@mschmids Since some changes in mattix sdk cause the problems, it may well be that element web faces the same issues as cinny, because it likey uses that as well. Just a guess, though.

Just to follow-up on the original post (@Moem, @danfro): the Signal bridge bot at tchncs.de currently works again 🙂 . They managed to block the spam.

A single addition. The Signal bridge bot replies with a QR-code and a sgnl://-URL. My primary Signal device had some trouble scanning the QR-code - it got picked up as I was just about to give up.
I suppose the URL can also be used for linking the devices, so if anyone has done that successfully, it may be worth posting here.
