      You mean VoLTE, I suppose ?
      (because if VoLTE is VoIP, not all VoIP systems are VoLTE)

          I switched my Fairphone 4 to 24.04 for volte. When it works the calls work and the data connection remains working as well (e.g. hotspot). But overall it comes with quite a number of limitations:

          • no reconnect after loss of connection (e.g. going to a basement without reception)

          • volte breaks when connecting to a wifi network and does not reconnect when disabling wifi. But it keeps working when enabling or disabling the wlan hotspot

          • after any of these two events the status indicator sometimes shows the volte sign, but as soon as I make or receive a call it will drop back to 3g (for as long as that still works, my provider announced the shutdown).

          • no ringing tone when making a call

            yes, that's probably some signal that is not understood by the phone handler, to me it seems linked to the callee's cellular network as ringing works or not consistently, depending on the person I call.

              I don't call many numbers, but no call ever had a ringtone. Neither mobile numbers nor fixed lines or the one international call 🤷

                @gpatel-fr For me it's the same like @gandalf said: There is no ringtone while dialing for every call I'm making. No matter if it's the same carrier, an other carrier or a fixed number. Even calling service numbers from my provider doesn't produce a ringtone.

                  @kristatos

                  I just did a few tests, here in France there is not much variety in primary networks, we have 4 providers: Orange (the most important, historical provider), SFR, Bouygues and Free (my provider).

                  As far as I can tell (I don't have thousands of numbers to call to do a proper statistic) calls toward Orange and SFR ring, calls toward Bouygues and Free don't. The fact that a number is fixed or mobile don't matter.

                    @gandalf I can say that the first three items on your list do not occur for me on a Oneplus N10. I just tested to make sure. There are some times when it does seem to maybe get stuck reverting to 3G for calls (I now see an H in top indicator, for HSPA I guess) but WiFi doesn't trigger it for me.

                    @gpatel-fr I have also experienced the odd ring when dialing out since my OP N10 got VoLTE, but mostly not.
                    I thought maybe it was only occurring when I was connected over 3G, but no, after dialing some random 1-800 numbers it happens the same for a given number whether I'm on VoLTE or 3G/H.

                    I don't really see lack of ring as much of an issue (I'm still just amazed and grateful to have VoLTE!) but it's still worth trying to figure out when it does/doesn't happen. I'll start looking for whether its network dependent.

                      I'll should be able to figure it out since I have now ofono traces for calling a number that reliably rings versus another that reliably don't, but it's not so easy, I have only figured out yesterday where this ringing is triggered, there is probably quite a lot more research to do.

                        @gpatel-fr Your technical knowledge is greater than mine - I wouldn't know how to set up traces or look for sources of the issue without guidance. But if there are specific ways I can help test things out, let me know
